Guest fountainhall Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 It is good to see the locals help the police arrest some of the many criminals in the city. Good to see that criminals are being arrested, but those staged photos are just dreadful. Those boys pointing at the accused - who on earth thinks it is anything but staged? Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 The photos are certainly staged, but they very often print such photos. Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The photos are staged but that is Thailand. Seems you always see those goofy photos. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The photos are always staged, and this is the only place where they "force" the bad guys to do a re=enactment of the crime....seems like admitting guilt??? Oh well, this is Thailand. Quote
PattayaMale Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 It is good to see the locals help the police arrest some of the many criminals in the city. http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2010/08/17/angry-mob-chases-thieving-ladyboy-in-south-pattaya/ Since this appears in English language Pattaya Daily News, I think there is no mistake in my belief that the story has less to do with someone stealing something, than the headline which shouts LADYBOY. If it was a straight man or lady, would the headline be, "Straight man Thief caught stealing in South Pattaya." NO! Talk about stealing, when will the Pattaya Daily News, report on other thefts like the policeman who last night was standing at Second Road and Pattayaland soi 2 stealing money from tourists for trumped up infractions. I witnessed a policeman standing with a ticket pad stopping only foreigners on motorbikes who seemed to commit no infraction. There were several Thais riding from Beach Road to Second Road on Pattayaland soi 2. Many without helments, on cell phones while driving. All just drove by the policeman without a problem. Then a foreign couple, with helmets on and doing nothing wrong that I saw, was stopped. They asked what they did wrong and the policeman only said, "no good, 500 baht". The couple asked again, yet no explanation, just a waving of the ticket book, and "500 baht". Easy to see, easy to report on, but is it ever reported? Not that I have read Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Easy to see, easy to report on, but is it ever reported? Not that I have read Would be nice to see a good investigative report on police corruption in the newspaper. Weeding out some of the crooked cops would be welcome by everyone except the cops. Though this is Thailand, and it is so much easier to report on a ladyboy stealing a phone. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I don't think there has probably been enough paper produced to hole a article on police corruption...especially if they include a list of the crooked cops. A list of honest law abidding policemen would be very short, and none of them are working the highways of Thailand. Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I am always very wary when a Ladyboy.. or several board a baht bus... I have heard too many sad stories of pick pocketing and mischief of expats on baht buses... by Ladyboys gone astray. tj Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 When I was using baht buses I had, on more than one occasion, been a targeted victim of pickpockets. I would always pay close attention to my pockets and foiled their attempts. Zippered pockets are a deterrent. Quote

For those that know "Geezer" he has a patented designed shirt and shorts that foils the pick pockets. Each what appears to be a regular pocket has maybe four other pockets that are zippered inside of those. Quote

Guest beachlover Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Those staged 'caught a criminal' are certainly humiliating. I think they're a bit primitive and distasteful. Why do ladyboys have such a bad reputation for crime? I would've thought they would be more gentle than non-lady boys... Quote
