firecat69 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Tried the new Irish Bar/Restaurant 'Mulligans" on Beach Road attached to central Festival. It is a big place with indoor and outdoor seating and lots of tvs for the soccer matches. I ordered Fish and Chips. The portion was not enormous but adequate. The fish was of a high quality cod and it was evident the oil used was Hot because the coating was nice and crispy without being Oily. The best Fish and Chips I have had in Thailand although I have had some close where the portions were larger. They also had lemons which I consider essential and very few bars or restaurants have in Thailand. They always give you limes Ugh!! Also had the Apple Crumble. Again the portion was not huge but high quality, not a bunch of goo but real apples. Like all these type places the prices are not a bargain. I believe the Fish and Chips was 360 baht and the Apple Crumble 160 baht. Soda 60 baht for a total of 580 baht. Tax and service were included in the prices. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 As I posted on GB I think Simon in Jomtien is very good, not oily and very crispy. We have eaten there many times. For 2 regular portions of imported cod with good chips (not French fries), 2 Lipton iced teas and 2 raspberry cheese cakes (95 baht each) total bill was 680 baht. They also have a larger portion, but the regular is plenty. Quote
Guest voldemar Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 As I posted on GB I think Simon in Jomtien is very good, not oily and very crispy. Now, this is really interesting: there are not too many places in Pattaya which serve crispy Simons... Seriously, As a frequent visitor to Pattaya, I have a different perspective than expats... E.g. "breaking news" that Richard is going to open New York style deli instead of Amor is really of no interest for me: I do not go to Thailand for reuben sandwiches... Similarly, so-called bar reviews are of very little interest. The scene is quite small and everybody can go and see everything in a matter of couple evenings. Granted, when I discovered (for myself) gay discotheques several years ago (like "body language") , it was interesting but there are hardly too many discoveries of this type left. The truth is that Pattaya is unique and one can have dinner in a new restaurant every night for many weeks, enjoy entertainment venues, go for short trips, play bowling or even visit art galleries without listening the gossip of"local gurus" about things the visitor does not need to know. On the contrary, things which may be important like omnipresense of HIV or drug addiction among local guys is not really discussed. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Sorry my posting was not clear enough, but I think most people got the idea of what I was saying. Quote
Guest Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 On Firecat's recommendation and since this place is a 30 second walk from my condo, I gave it a try. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I wish them great success! Authentic Irish food and not a horrible price. Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 As someone who spends a great deal od time here, I really appreciate the heads up on a new place to eat or a new bar. That is one of the best features of a board like this... sharing one's good (and sad) experiences with restaurants, bars, clubs...good helpful information always appreciated. Thanks firecat for the tip on this restaurant find of yours. tj Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Does anyone know if this is part of a chain??? or just an independent restaurant. I have seen serveral Mulligan's but might just be independents. Quote
