EmmetK
And Biden didn't just act like kindly Mr. Magoo for 90 minutes, he was lying thru his teeth for almost all 90 minutes. "No Americans died in Afghanistan" "I inherited 15% inflation" He said he spoke to dead US soldiers at Normandy and confused WWI with WWII. I could go on, but their isn't enough bandwidth to list all of Biden's gaffes and goofs. Biden Said ‘Watch Me.’ The Country Just Did. ATLANTA — President Biden repeated the same line for four years when politicians, voters, or the press conveyed concern about his age. He often says, “Watch me!” His problem may now be that the country just did. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2024/06/28/biden_said_watch_me_the_country_just_did_151180.html Mavica
Members lookin
Unlike Donald Trump and a few of my esteemed fellow posters, I've never believed that the President is the one and only person responsible for the accomplishments of an administration. In my opinion, the President sets the values and goals for his or her term in office, represents the country among other nations, and picks the right team to support her or him. For many years, 80% of my vote has been based on the compassion of a candidate. The other 20% would be based on the candidate's ability to select and empower the folks responsible for implementing those goals effectively. Trump may tell us that he's the only one who matters, but I don't believe it. So, in spite of Biden's recent fumbles, as well as his fumbles throughout his presidency so far, I'd be OK with voting for him again. I think with his values and a competent team around him, he could continue to deliver results that are good for the country. However, and it's a big however, the mental challenges he displayed in last night's debate are likely to increase over the next four years. There may come a time, for example, when he would not be considered trustworthy by other world leaders, or when he would pick the wrong battle or the wrong strategy to implement. Four years of keeping my fingers crossed ever more tightly, is not something I'd look forward to. The one good thing about last night's debate performance is that there's still time to do something about it. If we'd seen a Joe Biden firing on all cylinders, we'd have run the risk that he'd topple in the second debate with no time to find an alternative. So, sad as I am that Biden failed to impress last night, I'm glad the Democratic convention is still ahead of us, rather than behind us. floridarob
1 hour ago, EmmetK said: And Biden didn't just act like kindly Mr. Magoo for 90 minutes, he was lying thru his teeth for almost all 90 minutes. And here's where we're different and I'm not in a cult....I'll call Biden out on his faults, as will most Democrats, which can't be said for people in a cult, yet deny they are cultish. He had 16 deaths during his time 13 from a suicide bomber and 3 killed by an enemy drone. Trump behaved, for Trump and did pretty good, I was impressed that he did that. However, it really comes down to the administration and what they want to do behind the scenes that worry me...I'm talking about the Republicans. You've already seen what the 6-3 majority on the supreme court is capable of......hold on to your seats for the future cases, you think it doesn't affect you. The ruling they just made, to the benefit of corporations, is taking the teeth out of dozens of government organizations like the EPA....yeah, we can trust big business to not pollute and keep clean water and air?? My head is spinning from what can come from this....safe food, doesn't matter either we can trust them not to worry about profits and do the right thing. This isn't you and I against each other....this is what the US was like when there was no child labor laws, no OSHA, no 40 hr work week, no unions....our parents and grandparents fought and struggled to get the US to where it is today and people are willing to give all that up because they want THEIR guy to win. This isn't the Yankees vs the Red Sox.....is much bigger. You've been told to study history, "Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it". Look at banks, are going back to zero down/ no qualification mortgages, we've all seen that movie and know how it'll end, because we lived it. Spanish flu and Covid.....roaring 20's then and now....are we setting ourselves for the next Great Depression??? Because of everything I've mentioned and this, remember, we're not just voting for a person, it's the others behind him too.... Seth McFarland had a PERFECT analogy why to vote for Biden, you're voting for his TEAM (Administration) vs Trump's TEAM that will do everything he wants, not good in a Democracy. EmmetK
Fact check: Biden’s horrific debate performance made worse by multiple lies and gaffes Biden's Debate Lies: No troops have died What Biden said: “I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any — this decade — that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world, like [Trump] did.” Truth: At least 16 troops have died in overseas attacks over his tenure, including, infamously, the 13 soldiers killed in an ISIS-K attack during the botched August 2021 US evacuation from Afghanistan. We beat Medicare What Biden said: ‘We finally beat Medicare.” Fact: Huh? It’s unclear if even the octogenarian president knew what he meant here, but the obvious verbal blunder occurred after he froze discussing his record on the economy. Trump, 78, sarcastically responded: “He did beat Medicare. He beat it to death.” Endorsed by Border Patrol What Biden said: The US Border Patrol union “endorsed me, endorsed my position.” Truth: The National Border Patrol Council refuted Biden’s claim — mid-debate. “To be clear, we never have and never will endorse Biden,” the union posted on X. Which accord? What Biden said: “[Trump] pulled out of the Paris Peace Accords, uh, Climate Accord.” Fact: The president confused the Paris Climate Accords, the YEAR international pact aimed at tackling climate change, with the Paris Peace Accords that marked the end of the Vietnam War in 1973. Black unemployment What Biden said: “Black unemployment is the lowest level it’s been in a long, long time.” Truth: In April 2023 under Biden, black unemployment hit a record low of 4.8%, beating a previous low of 5.3% reached under Trump in 2019. However, the rate last month was 6.1%. Social Security What Biden said: “[Trump] wants to get rid of Social Security. … He’s wanted to cut Social Security and Medicare.” Truth: The ex-president has repeatedly said he wants to protect Medicare and Social Security. Taxing the rich What Biden said: “We have a thousand millionaires in America, I mean billionaires. And what’s happening? They’re in a situation where they in fact pay 8.2% taxes.” Truth: The top 1% of taxpayers (income of at least $548,000) paid an average tax rate of nearly 26% in 2020, while the top 0.001% — 1,475 taxpayers with at least $77 million in adjusted gross income – paid 23.7%, according to IRS data cited by the Washington Post. Trump’s unemployment rate What Biden said: “[The] unemployment rate rose to 15% [under Trump]; it was terrible.” Fact: The unemployment rate was 6.4% when Trump left the White House in 2021. Unemployment rose from 4.4% in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic to 14.8% in April 2020. The unprecedented global outbreak wreaked economic havoc worldwide. Border crossings What Biden said: “I’ve changed in a way that now you’re in a situation where there are 40% fewer people coming across the border illegally. That’s better than when [Trump] left office.” Truth: He’s confusing data. The daily average of migrant apprehensions dropped more than 40% — to nearly 2,400 — since Biden issued an executive action that went into effect a month ago prohibiting asylum at the southern border. However, there’s already more than 7 million illegal-border crossings under Biden, who during his first two years in office had already racked up over million more than Trump reportedly compiled in his four years in office. Drug prices What Biden said: “We brought down the price of prescription drugs … to $15 for an insulin shot as opposed to $400. No senior has to pay more than $200 for any drug … beginning next year.” Truth: Under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act that Biden signed into law, Medicare enrollees must still pay up to $35 monthly, and seniors and disabled people must fork over as much as more $2,000 yearly out-of-pocket starting in 2025. https://nypost.com/2024/06/29/us-news/fact-check-bidens-horrific-debate-performance-made-worse-by-multiple-lies-and-gaffes/ TRUMP 2024 MAGA

floridarob
3 hours ago, EmmetK said: Biden's Debate Lies: So.....there's a lot more to read here, which you won't. The source is the AP. Who's a better Human.... do you feel alone on this board....a board of people that travel and do all types of FUN things.....is this why you're so into Trump, because you are angry and frustrated that you're left behind in today's world, unloved, even by money boys & escorts ??? Change the channel...and get out of that cult. Trump's debate lies: JAN. 6 TRUMP: “They talk about a relatively small number of people that went to the Capitol and in many cases were ushered in by the police.” THE FACTS: That’s false. The attack on the U.S. Capitol was the deadliest assault on the seat of American power in over 200 years. As thoroughly documented by video, photographs and people who were there, thousands of people descended on Capitol Hill in what became a brutal scene of hand-to-hand combat with police. In an internal memo on March 7, 2023, U.S. Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger said that the allegation that “our officers helped the rioters and acted as ‘tour guides’” is “outrageous and false.” A Capitol Police spokesperson confirmed the memo’s authenticity to The Associated Press. More than 1,400 people have been charged with federal crimes stemming from the riot. More than 850 people have pleaded guilty to crimes, and 200 others have been convicted at trial. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ TRUMP, on then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s actions on Jan. 6: “Because I offered her 10,000 soldiers or National Guard and she turned them down.” THE FACTS: Pelosi did not direct the National Guard. Further, as the Capitol came under attack, she and then-Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell called for military assistance, including from the National Guard. The Capitol Police Board makes the decision on whether to call National Guard troops to the Capitol. It is made up of the House Sergeant at Arms, the Senate Sergeant at Arms and the Architect of the Capitol. The board decided not to call the guard ahead of the insurrection but did eventually request assistance after the rioting had already begun, and the troops arrived several hours later. The House Sergeant at Arms reported to Pelosi and the Senate Sergeant at Arms reported to McConnell. There is no evidence that either Pelosi or McConnell directed the security officials not to call the guard beforehand. Drew Hammill, a then-spokesperson for Pelosi, said after the insurrection that Pelosi was never informed of such a request. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ TRUMP, on Biden: “He wants to raise your taxes by four times.” THE FACTS: That’s not accurate. Trump has used that line at rallies, but it has no basis in fact. Biden actually wants to prevent tax increases on anyone making less than $400,000, which is the vast majority of taxpayers. More importantly, Biden’s budget proposal does not increase taxes as much as Trump claims, though the increases are focused on corporations and the wealthy. Trump’s 2017 tax cuts for individuals are set to expire after 2025, because they were not fully funded when they became law. ___ TRUMP, referring to Jan. 6, 2021, the day a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol in an effort to stop the certification of Biden’s victory: “On January 6th we had the lowest taxes ever. We had the lowest regulations ever on January 6th.” THE FACTS: The current federal income tax was only instituted in 1913, and tax rates have fluctuated significantly in the decades since. Rates were lower in the 1920s, just prior to the Great Depression. Trump did cut taxes during his time in the White House, but the rates weren’t the lowest in history. Government regulations have also ebbed and flowed in the country’s history, but there’s been an overall increase in regulations as the country modernized and its population grew. There are now many more regulations covering the environment, employment, financial transactions and other aspects of daily life. While Trump slashed some regulations, he didn’t take the country back to the less regulated days of its past. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ TRUMP, touting his environmental record, said that “during my four years, I had the best environmental numbers ever” and that he supports “immaculate” air and water. THE FACTS: That’s far from the whole story. During his presidency, Trump rolled back some provisions of the Clean Water Act, eased regulations on coal, oil and gas companies and pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord. When wildfires struck California in 2020, Trump dismissed the scientific consensus that climate change had played a role. Trump also dismissed scientists’ warnings about climate change and routinely proposed deep cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency. Those reductions were blocked by Democratic and Republican lawmakers. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABORTION TRUMP: “The problem they have is they’re radical because they will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month, and even after birth, after birth.” THE FACTS: Trump inaccurately referred to abortions after birth. Infanticide is criminalized in every state, and no state has passed a law that allows killing a baby after birth. Abortion rights advocates say terms like this and “late-term abortions” attempt to stigmatize abortions later in pregnancy. Abortions later in pregnancy are exceedingly rare. In 2020, less than 1% of abortions in the United States were performed at or after 21 weeks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Abortions later in pregnancy also are usually the result of serious complications, such as fetal anomalies, that put the life of the woman or fetus at risk, medical experts say. In most cases, these are also wanted pregnancies, experts say. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ RUSSIA TRUMP on Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in Russia: “He should have had him out a long time ago, but Putin’s probably asking for billions and billions of dollars because this guy pays it every time.” THE FACTS: Trump is wrong to say that Biden pays any sort of fee “every time” to secure the release of hostages and wrongfully detained Americans. There’s also zero evidence that Putin is asking for any money in order to free Gershkovich. Just like in the Trump administration, the deals during the Biden administration that have brought home hostages and detainees involved prisoner swaps -- not money transfers. Trump’s reference to money appeared to be about the 2023 deal in which the U.S. secured the release of five detained Americans in Iran after billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets were transferred from banks in South Korea to Qatar. The U.S. has said that that the money would be held in restricted accounts and will only be able to be used for humanitarian goods, such as medicine and food. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SUPER PREDATORS TRUMP: “What he’s done to the Black population is horrible, including the fact that for 10 years he called them ‘super predators.’ … We can’t forget that - super predators … And they’ve taken great offense at it.” THE FACTS: This oft-repeated claim by Trump dating back to the 2020 campaign is untrue. It was Hillary Clinton, then the first lady, who used the term “super predator” to advocate for the 1994 crime bill that Biden co-authored more than thirty years ago. Biden did warn of “predators” in a floor speech in support of his bill. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MIGRANTS TRUMP, referring to Biden: “He’s the one that killed people with a bad border and flooding hundreds of thousands of people dying and also killing our citizens when they come in.” THE FACTS: A mass influx of migrants coming into the U.S. illegally across the southern border has led to a number of false and misleading claims by Trump. For example, he regularly claims other countries are emptying their prisons and mental institutions to send to the U.S. There is no evidence to support that. Trump has also argued the influx of immigrants is causing a crime surge in the U.S., although statistics actually show violent crime is on the way down. There have been recent high-profile and heinous crimes allegedly committed by people in the country illegally. But FBI statistics do not separate out crimes by the immigration status of the assailant, nor is there any evidence of a spike in crime perpetrated by migrants, either along the U.S.-Mexico border or in cities seeing the greatest influx of migrants, like New York. Studies have found that people living in the country illegally are less likely than native-born Americans to have been arrested for violent, drug and property crimes. For more than a century, critics of immigration have sought to link new arrivals to crime. In 1931, the Wickersham Commission did not find any evidence supporting a connection between immigration and increased crime, and many studies since then have reached similar conclusions. Texas is the only state that tracks crimes by immigration status. A 2020 study published by the National Academy of Sciences found “considerably lower felony arrest rates” among people in the United States illegally than legal immigrants or native-born. Some crime is expected given the large population of immigrants. There were an estimated 10.5 million people in the country illegally in 2021, according to the latest estimate by Pew Research Center, a figure that has almost certainly risen with large influxes at the border. In 2022, the Census Bureau estimated the foreign-born population at 46.2 million, or nearly 14% of the total, with most states seeing double-digit percentage increases in the last dozen years. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ECONOMY TRUMP: We had the greatest economy in history.” THE FACTS: That’s not accurate. First of all, the pandemic triggered a massive recession during his presidency. The government borrowed $3.1 trillion in 2020 to stabilize the economy. Trump had the ignominy of leaving the White House with fewer jobs than when he entered. But even if you take out issues caused by the pandemic, economic growth averaged 2.67% during Trump’s first three years. That’s pretty solid. But it’s nowhere near the 4% averaged during Bill Clinton’s two terms from 1993 to 2001, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In fact, growth has been stronger so far under Biden than under Trump. Trump did have the unemployment rate get as low as 3.5% before the pandemic. But again, the labor force participation rate for people 25 to 54 — the core of the U.S. working population — was higher under Clinton. The participation rate has also been higher under Biden than Trump. Trump also likes to talk about how low inflation was under him. Gasoline fell as low as $1.77 a gallon. But, of course, that price dip happened during pandemic lockdowns when few people were driving. The low prices were due to a global health crisis, not Trump’s policies __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ GEORGE FLOYD PROTESTS TRUMP, on Minneapolis protests after the killing of George Floyd: “If I didn’t bring in the National Guard, that city would have been destroyed.” THE FACTS: Trump didn’t call the National Guard into Minneapolis during the unrest following the death of George Floyd. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz deployed the National Guard to the city. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Associated Press writers Josh Boak, Elliot Spagat, Eric Tucker, Ali Swenson, Christina Cassidy, Amanda Seitz, Stephen Groves, David Klepper, Melissa Goldin and Hope Yen contributed to this report. ___ Find AP Fact Checks here: https://apnews.com/APFactCheck. lookin, Bingo T Dog and JKane 2

So your point is (other than making a personal attack. And as you know, when one resorts to a personal attack, it means they are losing the argument)? They both lie? Is that your point? Or is it that Biden's lies were due to his dementia, so he gets a pass? Do you REALLY want to talk about lies? In Minute One of the presidential debate Thursday night, the Democratic party and the entire class of mainstream media sycophants and pundits were exposed as conspirators in a “Big Lie” – the gaslighting of the American public that President Biden was not only mentally fit but "better and wiser" than ever for a second term when they knew that was false. For the last 3 and a half years, democrat Congressmen, Senators, Governors, cabinet members, the dem elected officials, all of them would trot out on national TV to proudly claim how focused and involved he is. We now know those were all lies. These same liars excoriated Robert Hur when his report called Biden “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." No wonder Garland doesn't want to release the audiotape of Biden's interview. The REAL lies were the 3 and a half years of the gaslighting of the American people. The gaslighting ran far and deep. For years, the White House staff and Biden's aides claimed the president’s compromised gait, blank stares and perplexing wanderings were “deep fakes” and enlisted none other than The .New York Times to validate these plainly wrong claims and lie to the American public. Like Soviet commissars, the fake news media, democrat officials, and left-wing talking heads on CNN and MSNC kept telling us Biden was better than ever. You want to talk about lies? Three and a half years of lying about Biden's health and acuity. Last Thursday night, Trump was like the Eveready Bunny, full of energy. Biden looked like a corpse. Dr. Jill should be charged with elder abuse. TRUMP 2024 MAGA

No lost argument...It's just that I don't like you and I'm being polite in my digs to you...you evade questions I've put directly to you in the past, never answering and you NEVER talk bad about your cult leader. You'll see all over the news and internet people are saying Biden did a shitty job at the debate.....when have you ever heard Trump's cult say a negative word about him? It's like when Moses tried to defend the indefensible Putin....you realize that is who Trump idolizes and wants to emulate?. I don't debase myself like you do by engaging in a childlike game of whether the Biden cult is better than the Trump cult (I would call them MAGA loyalists). Furthermore, it wasn't merely a "shitty job at the debate". It should send chills through the spine of every American citizen to know that Biden has the nuclear codes. And I am saddened to hear that you don't like me 🥹. Was it something I said? TRUMP 2024 MAGA

Don't confuse him....I suggest that everyone ignore or block him....same like we shouldn't give Trump airtime. If this fucker contributed to this board, like Moses at times, we could tolerate him....he's only a troll in this political forum ...we should treat him like the bitch he is, toss him aside.....Like Trump has done to so many of his putas (wives). Bingo T Dog
For Reagan, the age issue faded in his first term as any health questions focused on his recovery from a nearly fatal assassination attempt in 1981. He seemed headed for an easy reelection. And debates seemed natural settings for the smooth-talking former Hollywood actor. But his performance in the first showdown with Mondale in the 1984 campaign brought the age issue roaring back. The president, then 73, rambled and hesitated. He seemed to lose his train of thought at one point, and appeared tired at others. No one had seen him perform publicly in such a way, recalled Jaroslovsky, who co-authored a story headlined: “New Question in Race: Is Oldest U.S. President Now Showing His Age?”
