  1. 1. In the bars, what is your usual practice when you call a boy over to sit with you?

    • I buy a drink for him and also tip him.
    • I buy a drink for him, but do not tip him.
    • I do not buy a drink for him, but I do tip him.
    • I neither buy a drink for him nor tip him.

I may be wrong about Boys Bangkok, but I know for sure that it was 500 baht at Dream Boy on my last visit (February this year). This was what was quoted to me at the door and I absolutely refused to go in. It was memorable because of precisely this incident. I just assumed that Boys Bangkok would charge similarly since it has the same owner as Dream Boy and one can migrate from one bar to the other. Not having entered or enquired, I don't know about Dream Boy's off fee but I won't be surprised if it is all 500 baht.

.

Having said that, the drink charge at Dream has varied considerably from one visit to the next (that's why I have learnt to ask), and they have special nights or different prices for weekends. So I could have been there at the "wrong" night.

I visited Soi Twilight agogo bars this past Sunday and monday with my bf, as we had not visited the agogos for about 2 years,we just decided to look in by for a change. we usually just go to the beerbars, Maxis/Banana etc..In fact a few of the barkers we see regularly and now dont even try to get us in their bars were shocked when we actually went in. At Hotmale first left upstairs the drinks were Bt240 (the begging-for-a-drink/tip mamsans from Classic are here now)at X-Boy/Men? accross the drinks were Bt250 and at Fresh Boys Bt240 all had shows including fucking shows and we had good G&Ts at all venues. If the price is Bt500 at BoysBkk and Dream Boy I would never go there out of principal, but i cant really believe they would dare charge Bt500 per drink when the other rivals are at Bt240-250.

In the agogos there were very few westerners, at X-boy/men I was the only westerner, all other patrons were Asian, Korean/Japanese/? as well as a few females, i think Thai. I noted that the 4 young Japanese guys beside us only drank bottled water which were hardly touched, and we are talking 7-11 Bt10 standard water, it was clear they were just there for the show which they seemed to enjoy. Not much offing or boy drink buying at any of the gogos we visited. The only multiple drink buyers/drinkers had whiskey bottles open.

I visit at different times of the year usually Jan/feb,April, July and Sept/Oct and so far this year have noted a very large percentage of Asian customers on every trip in Bkk. Just sitting at Maxis and checking out the soi from there it seemed to me to be as high as 80% asian to 20% westerners.
