Olddaddy Posted June 20 Posted June 20 (Sorry guys I just realised this should of been posted in the Health section of the forum) I just on the WhatsApp this morning chatting to a friend of a friend in Phuket who has been in the Phuket hospital on a drip most of the night. And apparently they were " pumping his stomach " ...I have no idea what they means but doesn't sound good He is in his late 60's and whilst I believe in the motto Go hard ,grow old disgracefully etc there is only so far you can take your body at that age It has been told to me that he had drunk so much he had vomited everywhere and had to get an ambulance as he fell down the stairs as well of the bar covered in vomit and stubbed his toe🤮🤮 A few days of sleepless nights , taking energy drinks to stay awake etc I heard to see the sights One thing we all forget on vacation is time management and health. We all need to cram everything into those short trips of 7 nights etc and forget our sleep and healthy eating ,drinking and partying with alcohol to excess especially if we are not use to alcohol They were staying 7 nights /8 days package they got cheap and that could be a reason too , too short of a trip Apparently he did take out travel insurance but whilst I didn't comment on that to them, I did recall a case last year of a Australian woman in similar circumstances who was refused her claim because she was intoxicated at the time. I will keep up to date on him . But I do think it's fantastic he is "partying",🥳 I also think also you need to be responsible. I'm surprised the bar did not stop his alcohol consumption when they realised he was paralytic. I do try to plan my holiday in getting enough sleep , alcohol consumption, diet ,exercise , vitamins B and multi vitamins Berocca etc I rarely drink except if I go to a bar ,and if I do I try to limit it to a glass 🍷 of wine or two. I like a sweet red wine ,but I draw the line at 2 per evening ...most times 😁 but ...as thais say ...you think too much ! 😁 vinapu 1 Quote

Definitely old enough to know better. I hope he has to pay for all of the damage he caused. Olddaddy 1 Quote

Members unicorn Posted June 20 Members Posted June 20 But to answer your question, "pumping the stomach" usually refers to the placement of a nasogastric tube, then hooking that tube up to low intermittent suction. vinapu 1 Quote
Keithambrose Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Also known as gastric suction. Used to remove contents of the stomach if you have ingested something poisonous, damaging or corrosive. Used to be standard for anyone who fell into the River Thames years, ago, before it was cleaned up! vinapu 1 Quote

I should add, that due to our incompetent water authorities, our rivers are becoming dirtier, as excess raw sewage is pumped into the rivers, in direct proportion to the bonuses paid to the directors of our (privatised) water companies. Where I live watercress has been grown in the local small river for hundreds of years. No more, too polluted. vinapu, Ruthrieston and Olddaddy 1 2 Quote
