Slow Times in Pattaya

I have been here 2 nights and I will give the briefest of observations..Well not tooo brief.

 

Last night I went to Boystown not knowing what to expect. I made a brief look in Copa at 915pm, maybe 8 boys on stage and no customers. I did not stay. Then to Lucky 777 where 6 weeks ago I found them to have the Hottest Boys.. Made the mistake of not looking first. Walked in sat down and ordered a diet coke. I was the only customer Maybe 16 boys and to be charitable, not much to look at.

 

Moved on to XBoys fairly new bar and owned by same as in Bangkok. Walked in took a quick look and was going to leave when this boy approached me with the smile of a God. The only way I can describe him is , Tiger Woods as a small Asian Boy. Beautiful smile and wonderful pure white teeth and it appeared a personality to boot,

 

Sat down and bought him a drink and began to look at the other boys. Maybe 14 boys and some attractive ones. Again I was the only customer. Had conversation with boy and he told me he could do what I wanted and mamasan confirmed. Now I'm thinking too good to be true because of this kid does the deed , he is coming home to Bangkok with me.

 

You know the ending. He did Nothing!!!!!!!!!!! What a disappointment. Went home on Gayromeo and had an accommodating boy in 1 hour.

 

Tonight I went to see friends in Sunee . All beer bars were very slow. Ended up at Oud's for a sandwich and able to wish Oud Happy Birthday.

 

Stopped in Niceboys. At least 40 boys and probably never less then 12 customers and nearly filled up when I left. Unlike times past I had no questions on age. I had boy who I met from a friend sit with me and arranged a meeting for the following night for which I paid his off. I would say there were at least 1/2 dozen boys I would have taken home.

 

But I wasn't really looking for anyone so I moved back to Boyztown. I looked in Starboys, no customers maybe 8 dancers sitting. No money from me.

 

Next Cupidol. No customers, maybe 6 boys sitting . I left. Sawatdee same thing. Decided time to call it a day so I returned to my room where I am writing this.

 

When I am finished I am sure I will find something nice on Gayromeo. The slowest I have ever seen it. Beer and Nice Boys the only bar I have seen in 2 days that could pay their expenses. He must be doing something right!!!!!

Your report is, unfortunately, quite accurate and many of the boys are having problems due to the lack of customers. I believe at least part of the reason is what is being brought out in the 'Missing the "Old Days"' thread, that some bars are very enjoyable and others are just dull and lifeless.

 

Why would some bars be packed and others virtually empty? I would not attribute it to how attractive the boys may or may not be. That's because what constitutes 'attractive' is such an individual thing that there really is no way to say this bar or that bar has unattractive boys. While that may be true for some, those same 'unattractive' boys may be exactly what others are looking for.

 

I truly believe it is the demeanor of the bar itself. Speaking for myself, I don't care how attractive the boys may be, but if the bar is not providing a good time, I leave. I would much rather take my business to a bar that might have boys less attractive to me, but I am enjoying it and having a good time. Very sorry, bar owners, but somehow I don't have a good time in a mausoleum where the music volume is breaking my eardrums.

 

I also don't see how bars that permit their mama-sans to bullshit their customers can expect repeat customers or even first time customers when the word spreads. If it's anything I can't stand, it's when you consult the mama-san, tell her what you want, and she hooks you up with a boy who has no intention of doing any of whatever it was you were looking for. In your case, you were flat out lied to by both the boy and the mama-san. If you happened to be someone here on a short term holiday, one you may have been scrimping and saving for all year, and something like that happens, it can ruin the holiday. One thing is for sure, if you ask a mama-san for something specific, you can bet you'll never hear "not have."

 

I still don't know why the bars insist on employing these mama-sans in the first place. Some are very good and really will hook you up with a boy willing to do whatever it is you are seeking. But they are rare.

 

Actually, for me, willing to do doesn't cut it. To me, that implies reluctance, but he'll grin and bear it for the tip. Thanks, but no thanks. I would want a boy who at least enjoys whatever it is I am seeking and that's what a good mama-san will provide or tell you honestly that none of her boys would want to do that.

 

You would think that during these slow times a bar owner with half a brain would do something to liven up their bar and attract customers - you know, like maybe getting their go-go boys to actually go-go dance? Offering customer incentives? That might be a good start. But doing virtually nothing else other than raising prices seems to be the only thing some of these bars ever try. They've tried that and what is the result? Even smaller customer numbers than before. Works great, doesn't it?

 

Over the years we have made suggestions to the bar owners time and time again and on the "Old Days" thread we're doing it again. Maybe they'll finally listen. But I doubt it. I guess some just won't be happy until the "For Sale or Rent" sign appears on their door.

Thanks for the great report. It is not surprising to hear things are that slow but I do hope they pick up. Keep having fun and enjoying Sin City.

And I bet the off fee was non-refundable and the boy got a tip. This has got to change; no wonder people get fed up with being ripped off by Thai boys and mamasans.

Well I did not ask about the off fee and yes I tipped the boy. I know I should not have but I enjoyed his company in the Bar and the Ride home and before I started to try to get intimate.

 

Truth is I figure in some form this happens to me about 20% of the time and 5% on Gayromeo. I just consider it the cost of doing business.

 

These are pretty hard times for the boys and I know he still needs the money and he will share with his less lucky friends. There have been times when I gave nothing but taxi fare but those boys had a bad attitude as well as not being willing.

 

Not sure that makes any sense but it does for me.
