Gaybutton Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 The results of the "If ALL the gay bars were to close, would you still come to Thailand?" poll, so far, are very interesting to me. Most are saying they would continue coming to Thailand, bars or no bars. Now I'm wondering, assuming that for most gay men finding willing young gentlemen is at least one of your main reasons for coming to Thailand (or as TOQ pointed out - staying in Thailand), if there were no gay bars, how would you go about finding those willing young men? Gaybutton Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 Plus in Bangkok I'll bet a few more places like Saranrom Park would spring up. Perhaps, but I wonder how many farang holiday makers would really travel halfway around the world to cruise pickup parks or sit on the Internet, hoping to find boys they want, when in the past (hypothetically) finding boys, having a few drinks, watching the go go dancers, etc. was a virtually guaranteed part of their experience. Some people swear by public men's rooms. I don't know, but that's definitely not for me and, by the way, I have yet to ever see any boys hanging around men's rooms making themselves available. I'm sure those who say they often find boys that way are telling the truth, but I have never seen it. Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Well in Pattaya, many gogo dancers spend the day on the beach, so that is the obvious place to go. BKK has known pick up areas around Silom. You do see evidence of people cruising in some of the bathroom facilities in shopping centres near Sala Daeng BTS. At least that's what they appear to be doing -I've never wanted to pick anyone up that way. Quote

I shop at Tops and go to the mail centre in Silom Complex. There seems to be a group of regular cruisers - mostly older farang - in the late afternoons. If it's fun they are looking for, I always find it odd that they look so serious and bored. Quote

Guest Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Since they are cruisers, do they go home alone or do they get lucky and the ship they seek comes in? Well, how else do we describe soliciting action with other males in public lavatories? Not a scene I've ever had much time for, it must be said. Quote

I am never there long enough to witness the outcome. I have very occasionally seen an older farang chatting with a younger Thai. Whether they met whilst cruising or are long standing friends, I have my own hunch - but no more than that. Quote
