Guest pingalicker Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Does anyone know the date for the Thai holiday "La Kathroung" this year. I know I'm miss-spelling the name, and I can never pronouce it correctly either. But it is the Thai holiday usually held the first week in November where Thai's and farang go to the nearest body of water to celebrate. Don't want to miss it. It is just wonderful, exciting and so much fun. The first time I expiernced it was two years ago, on the last day of my trip. I stayed at Jomtinmen beach until the last minute before rushing back to the hotel to check out and catch my taxi to the airport. Last year I enjoyed a bar-b-que on the beach with my boyfriend, then danced to the disco on the beach, went to club NAB for hours, then to a late night kareoke, finally back to the room at 9am. Gosh, we had a great time. Want to plan my trip this year around it. Thank you. Quote
Bob Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Easy to pronounce - Loy (rhymes with "boy") Kra-tong (just like it looks). Loy Krathong has always been set as the day of the full moon in November....and this year it's November 21. If you check the moon cycles any year for November, you'll know when the holiday is celebrated. Quote

Gaybutton Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 It is also easy to Google to find out the date. When I wanted to know I just Googled "Loy Krathong 2010" Yes, but don't forget that Pingalicker didn't know how it's spelled. By his spelling he would not have gotten results. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Just googled "La Kathroung" and get 2 results. The first is pingalicker's original post on this thread. The second is gaythailand's forums Quote
