Gaybutton Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Today I noticed a small butcher shop called Prime Beef. They are located on Central Road (Pattaya Klang) just past Soi 6, about a half a block before you get as far as Foodland, on the same side of the road, as you're headed toward Sukhumvit. I spoke to the owner. He has been there for 8 months and I never noticed this shop before today. He has all kinds of prime beef, ranging from steaks to prime rib, and at reasonable prices. He also has a store in Bangkok. If you're looking for good, aged, grain fed prime beef, you might want to stop in and have a look. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Did you try any of the beef? Do they also have French lamb? This sounds like a must visit shop. Quote
Gaybutton Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Did you try any of the beef? Not yet. I just discovered this place today and it isn't even dinner time yet. I did buy some beef and I'm going out to dinner tonight, but I'll try it tomorrow or the next day. I don't think he carries lamb, but I could be wrong. I didn't notice any and it didn't occur to me to ask what he can get that isn't present in the shop. But give it a try. Besides, you know light years more about cooking that I'll even know, so your opinion will carry far more validity than my own. I'm anxious to know what you think of it. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I just bought some rib eye steaks there and will cook them tonight. I talked to the owner and he said he has not been able to find any French lamb in Thailand. He also told me that his beef is the same quality as Villa's. He charges 80 baht/kg less than Villa for rib eye steaks. Quote

Gaybutton Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 I just bought some rib eye steaks there and will cook them tonight. Last night I tried mine. Now, I'm no cook, but mine came out really good - juicy, very tender, and very flavorful, so I'm certainly pleased and that's where I'll be shopping when I want beef of that quality from now on. Have you tried yours yet? You mentioned that he's less expensive than Villa Market and I think Villa Market is less expensive than the grocery store in Central, so in my opinion this guy has the best prime beef at the best prices. Guest lvdkeyes Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I lightly oiled the steaks with olive oil then sprinkled them with lemon pepper garlic powder and coarse salt and pan fried them in a hot cast iron skillet. They were tender, juicy and tasty. I had them with microwaved baked potatoes and peas cooked with lettuce. Very nice meal! At a savings of 80 baht/kg I will certainly buy my prime beef there. I saw some French sausages I want to try even though my bf is not wild about sausage. Quote

I saw some French sausages I want to try even though my bf is not wild about sausage. I purchased a sirloin at Prime Beef and grilled it on the BBQ. It was very good. I saw the French sausage but I don't know what it is. I asked but the staff did not know how to explain what it is. What is it? Pork? Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I didn't look at it closely so I don't know for sure, but most sausage is pork. Quote
PattayaMale Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 You are correct that most sausage may be made from pork, but also any type of ground meat can be made in to sausage. Turkey and chicken are big sellers in the USA. I goggled "French sausage" and did not find anything specific enough. I had there T-Bone steak tonight (sirloin last night). It was very good. GB put us onto a good thing. The steak was trimmed well and cost 257 baht. Well worth it. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 There are many kinds of French sausage. I saw at least 2 kinds at Prime Beef. Quote
Guest simoncm Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I would assume that the vendor sources his beef from Donsfood? Quote
