Barcelona - Thermas: Summary of Info

Hi Guys,

Before my hopefully forthcoming (not first) visit, I summarized the relevant info from the previous 12 months. [Maybe management would find fit to pin it for future uninitiated.] Anyone so inclined, please correct, criticise or add.

Timetable:

Friday – Monday: 15:00-23:00     Tuesday – Wednesday: 24 hours     Thursday: 7:00-23:00.

Best hours to visit: 16:00 – 20:00

[Splash disco party: a late night event, with DJ etc. Not attended particularly by the "boys". More of a general sauna evening.]

 

Room Rates:

Entry – 22 eur; on Wednesday – 19.5     Private rooms rates: 15 – 18 – 20 – 25 (levels of luxury).

Speedoo: You use one of the free cabins with a small bench and plastic covered mattress, or you rent a larger room with a bed+sheets and light (not dimmed light like in the cabins). On busier nights, might have to wait for them.

Riobard: You have the option of 2 towels or 1 towel plus a large terry cloth robe on check-in. If you spread out the robe on a vinyl mattress ()not routinely swabbed between sessions, you get more cloth coverage over it.      Another tip: If you rent a room that is put on your check-out tab, you have it for an hour. Write down the time from the clock at reception, making sure the attendant knows you are aware, and optionally keep the key for 55-59 minutes because you may want to fit in at least one more session. Rookie mistake is to hand back the key after 20-30 minutes and then regret it.     [The light dimmers generally don’t function well.] 

Providers:

Rate – 50 eur for 20-30 mnts; not including cum.

Speedoo: If you want to spend an hour with a guy – you better ask him upfront, so he can price accordingly. I would expect some of the guys to agree to 50 Euro for 1 hour just to close the deal, but with no actual intention of spending that much time with you in the cabin (lots of excuses can come up why a session is ended prematurely). 

 Most “boys” are Latinos from SA; especially Brazil and Venezuela; also east-Europeans. On Saturday and Sunday there’s an influx of only-weekend “boys”. Most are in the 7-inch range and thick enough.

Honorably recommended here: Bruno, Paulo, Sergio, Costas, and repeatedly – Nicholas (Chile).

 

Three Recent Impressions:

Chucky: Lots of guys there, mostly South American although a couple of East Europeans. Had most of the guys approach, some very handsome and some just big cocks. Lots of Brazilians as usual and some very handsome. Definitely was more choice than last year.

AndyUK: Always found this place to be nice, hassle free, great bar area and sexy guys. Top notch.

keepItReal: Providers were friendly and almost all of them stopped by to say hello. Still, couldn't find an enthusiastic bttm. Mostly guys were tops or just looking for quick oral fun. Had a good time chatting with some of the providers and they seemed to be in good spirits and quite welcoming.

 

Speedoo: The guys will get condom and lube from the bar in the basement when they agree to go with you to a cabin or room. I don’t recall if you get charged for this when you leave; presumably you do, but it’s only a few Euros. Probably only 1 type standard condoms available. I haven’t seen guys asking for special sized condoms.

The Splash event is now every night 23:00 until 14:00 following day, not just four nights Thurs-Sun. I believe this means that on any given afternoon/evening staying past 23:00 incurs an additional entry charge. I also understand that you may be eligible for one free drink ticket, so ask for it whether you arrive after 23:00 or are carrying over from earlier admission.

I thought I'd add my experience about sauna Thermas as I've been going there for a few years now. I remember being very nervous the first time! 

You pay the entree fee, get a key with a locker number and go change. Once you are changed you go down the stairs where the working boys will be waiting or wandering around, and on the bottom most level there's a pool and bar. Some providers will approach you, some won't. If you see someone you like just say "Hey" to them and they will most likely lead the conversation.

Clearly state what you want to happen (suck their dick, have them suck you, get fucked, fuck them, kiss or not,...) and confirm these are things he offers or not (all providers have different limits and things they offer). The standard is 50 euro for one session, no matter what the activity (usually, with some exceptions noted later on), excluding the provider's ejaculation (if you want them to ejaculate, tell them as it's extra money, usually 50 euro extra). There are "strict" tops who sometimes propose to let you fuck them for double the money (so 100 instead of 50 euro for 1 session. I suggest to not do this as they are often not good at bottoming and to search for a true versatile or bottom provider).

If kissing is important to you, ask them to demonstrate to you how they kiss during the conversation. It's forward, yes, but a good kisser will happily oblige and it can save you from disappointment as I've had providers give halfhearted pecks once the session started (when I didn't ask them to show me before). 

A session lasts around 20 to 30 minutes (but you as the client should keep track. Most providers will make the session shorter if you don't). The rule of thumb is that it's 50 euro per 30 minutes. So if you were to engage a provider for one hour, it's expected you pay him 100 euro. But always confirm price and duration before starting the session. Some will (jokingly) ask for a tip beforehand, which I always politely decline. 

Once you've agreed on everything, it's time to start the session. For this you have 2 options. There are free cabins on the first basement, they have a fixed bench with thin mattresses on them. Some clients find them uncomfortable, for me they work fine. I suggest using the cabins on the left of the stairs (when facing with your back to the stairs) as these have better lighting in them and there are larger cabins. Just ask the provider to get you a larger cabin and they will look for it. Most of the time the larger cabins are in use by providers who are on break (smoking and chatting). 

You can also pay for a room. This is always by the hour and they come at various prices, depending on the size. All rooms have a full bed in them with linen and towels so the more expensive ones are simply larger. The comfort remains the same. The price list for the rooms is visible at the entry. 

After you are done with the session some providers will take a shower with you, some won't. Then you both go the top floor (street level) where the lockers are. You then get the money from your locker. The provider will be waiting for you in the bathroom next to the entrance (you can't miss it, it will be very clear where it is) and you give them the money there. I don't know why that is the spot but it's been that spot for as long as I've gone there. 

The providers don't mind it if you have your phone with you (I use it for Google translate).

If you had a great time with a provider, I suggest you buy them a drink at the bar (if they're not otherwhise engaged with another client). I find it nice chatting to the guys and getting to know them.

I totally understand one might be nervous going for the first time, but I've found that most everyone there (from the staff to the providers) are friendly and want to help you relax because happy, relaxed clients spend more money 😉

Ideal times to go are any day between 4pm and 8pm. The busiest days (with the largest number of providers, but also the most clients) are (usually) Wednesday but definitely Friday and Saturday, same time (4pm till 8pm). Outside these hours there will rarely be providers in the sauna.

I was there just last week. was a really friendly atmosphere. Last time I went was many years ago. It's great to see they are upholding. Lots of boys to choose from too and many are straight if that's your thing.

If in Barcelona now in July, I absolutely recommend you to visit Sitges, just a short trip by train from the city. Many gay bars, clubs and one of the cruisiest beaches of Europe called Cala del Muerto. Enjoy your trip.

4. only 1 muscular & big type and I am told most of them (Them as the big, muscular ones) are gay4pay. So if you are not into this, the trick of asking them to kiss you as a test to test their kissing skill can tell

Yeah, July (and part of August too) is when a lot of guys that live in Barcelona go on vacation, so maybe that's why there were fewer guys. Number 4 I've also heard.

Discouraging report, but this was midweek. Hopefully, weekend would have been better.

As for GfP, this is a longstanding fantasy for many gay men, but I imagine others don't prefer it. GfP guys have gotten quite advanced in their face-sucking skills in Spain and Brazil.

As far as I know, the website has never mentioned the parties. I only saw the changed opening hours posted at the entrance.

Having just returned from my trip to Barcelona last week I am happy to report that Thermas was not a disappointment, and I can certainly recommend a look.

My first visit was on a Thursday afternoon at about 2.30 pm. There weren't many clients there at that time. Upon arrival in the mid afternoon I was approached and received a very warm welcome from 3 or 4 working guys, who were all very eager to please. These were a handsome young Venezuelan named Oliver and his horse hung cousin, who were very free with their conversation and seemed really nice guys. There was also an especially charming Nigerian named Christian with a great body and cock, who spoke perfect English. There was then a steady flow of fresh talent who arrived throughout the later afternoon, all of whom were handsome, hung and personable. In the end I chose to spend some private time with a gorgeous South American guy named Enrique, who certainly knew how to top.

I visited again at 3pm on the following Sunday, but the premises were temporarily closed to the public for the clean up after a private party from Saturday, which had rolled on into Sunday, and I chose not to return later that day.

I again attended at about 3pm on Monday afternoon, and there were fewer guys, but still a good choice. I had a great session with Christian the Nigerian.

Most of the working guys at Thermas were handsome South Americans, both Latinos and a few black guys, one was called Tony with blonde died hair (tasty too), and they were all very chatty and personable. They all had their ample goods on full perky display. If you like guys in their thirties look out for Juan. There was also a Bulgarian, but not many Europeans. The going rate is €50. Entry fee €22.

The premises were very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. 

A final word about the other Saunas, Bruc and Condal. I visited both of these but only saw older guys there, so neither place appealed to my tastes.

Thanks for the report. I might be there later this year. How late did you stay and can you confirm whether they kick everyone out at a certain hour to make way for the Splash party? One of the more "interesting" experiences I've had was spending a whole night at Thermas and seeing what goes on there (not much, but not bad). I might try that again.

From what I've heard they kick everyone out starting around 10pm on the nights that the parties are. During the week (from Monday afternoon till Thursday) it's supposedly still open 24 hours.

I didn't stay late, it was thinning out quickly from 7pm on a weekday.
