Not the same room

Recommended Posts

I think it was Vinapu who says he changes hotel rooms through out his trip

Well I just stayed 6 weeks with a side trip to Philippines and Bangkok and I must say after a month I got depressed with the room I got very cheaply of Airbnb I think I paid 12k including electric

But I just changed rooms the last few days , why I don't know,is it a Psychological thing ?

I more happier with my new room by the pool

Got the same experience, when I return home to Philippines earlier this month before heading to Bangkok I chose to stay in a 4 star hotel instead of going to my house and but it was meh, I didn't find value for my buck.

I also read some of Vinapu's trip reports where he do change hotel rooms and my first thought before was it will be such a hassle packing and unpacking your luggage each time.

But when I tried it myself during my visit in Bangkok and including my return to Manila I chose to split my remaining weeks with a few Airbnb and hotels throughout, it was so refreshing to have a different view every now and then.

Thanks @vinapu for the idea.

I don't, once I'm unpacked and settled in, moving is such a hassle, especially within the same city. If I had a stalker coming to my place, I'd consider it, lol

I'm with vinapu, hand luggage only. I tend not to change hotels, but I often change rooms in the same hotel! Next visit to Bangkok, I stay in Meredien on arrival, but when i return, having been to Cambodia,  I am staying at the Banyan tree for a change, staying quite close to Silom!

New hotels, the Croom and the Dusit Thani, will soon be entering the Silom market. Visitors have an abundance of offerings in every price range. Thailand remains a bargain compared to northeast Asia and the west.

I was a great fan of the old Dusut Thani.  Comfort,  old style  Thai, silk  and wood everywhere.  I fear that the new Dusit will be the usual bland modern 5 star hotel. But you never know!

There really are lots of free "for fun" in hookup apps from "car fun" up to people who will accommodate and host for you back there especially in manila and the surrounding cities of metromanila.

Though I haven't travelled much to other regions on the south like cebu before leaving the country in my early 20s on 2010 so I don't have any suggestions or recos hahaha.

I used to stay at different hotels in Surawong area such as Raya and Siam Heritage but the moment I signed up for Marriot membership, I only stay at Le Meridien (to clock up nights). Nice rooms and great service but buffet breakfast is boring. Minimal change in menu. Sometimes, I force myself to forego buffet breakfast and go to Foodland Patpong for breakfast!

Sorry you think their buffet breakfast is boring! I find it rather extensive, Western,  Thai, Japanese etc. Good strong tea in a pot! I get access to the lounge, which means you wouldn’t have to go out to eat if you didn't want to. Pretty good breakfast, excellent  sandwiches for tea, and decent  snacks for the evening, plus drinks! Mind you, I do go out!

I agree there's a wide variety but it's the same variety every morning. I would like to see some dishes being changed from time to time. I also get access to lounge and love interacting with the friendly staff. But lounge can get crowded on some evenings.

I just turned 36 so cannot considered young, though many say I look younger. Maybe because I'm asian. Hahaha

And in good shape? Nope. I've been a chub as far as I remember. Well, ROUND is a shape. 🤣🤣🤣

They were refurbishing the Lounge when I was last there. It will be interesting see what they have done. Staff there are great, remember what drink you like etc.

Thanks! I fear I am nothing  to write home about either.  Presentable,  but stocky, as they say, and approaching 70!

The trick I do if I have to stay more than a couple of nights in LM is to concentrate on 1 region/atelier per day. That way it would be different breakfast experience everyday. AFAIK, they’re the only breakfast buffet that have bubblies.

I'm not up to bubbles for breakfast!

I do miss the honeycomb that they used to have. A pot of honey isn't the same!

Jamie are you living in PH?  can you give accommodation advice.  I was there for a 30 days on my 60 day trip to asia last year.   I had a local man from Isabela province and stayed 5 days in manila (new years) in various hotels, then Cauayan city (hotels and airbnb) 20 days and 5 days  Angeles.

I found hotel accommodations mediocre and rather expensive.  and I hate moving around.  Finding a good place to stay was one of my local mans jobs, but he was .....  inexperienced.

this winter I stayed in Medellin for 90 days 3 different Airbnbs (again mediocre and rather expensive).  I like to have a "home base"  then travel around the country a bit with short stays at hotels.  but having someplace to leave the computer and my stock of heart and cock medicines.  I guess I need to learn to travel lighter....  Meds, computer electric toothbrush, shaver a few clothes, sex toys (😈).

Trying to decide to return to Asia or back to south america.  I love thailand food, accomodations, and men.  weather sucks.  PH the people/men are great, food... weather, accomodations...  not so much.  Colombia great weather, hot men... food accomodations safety..... not so great.

Sorry man can't help to you there, have not been based in PH for quite some time now and no longer knowledgeable for anything local there. I left PH in 2010 and only visit once every couple of years and that's only for a 2-3 weeks at a time. Damn, I even got lost 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵😵 travelling back and forth throughout Manila last month when I was there as too much was changed since my last visit😂😂🤣🤣🤣
