Unaffiliated security guards in altercation on Pattaya Soi 6

While the customers seemed to have started a bit of pushing, the guards' reaction seem totally disporportionate and I hope the police will see it that way too. What is interesting is that the guards weren't employees of the bar in question but were called in from somewhere else.

I am not certain, but did that one security guard kill the tourist when he kicked him in the head? It wasn’t clear if the guy on the ground was dead or not.  It was pretty disturbing in the end to watch.  If the tourist is dead, that security guard committed murder.

I remember years ago Sunee had two patrolling Security guards ,they even built a gate at the entrance

In a viral incident that has made international headlines and drove significant speculation and discussion online, a group of independent contracted guards brutally assaulted British tourists after a furious dispute over a bill on the bustling Soi 6  Pattaya over the past weekend. The attack raised serious concerns about safety and tarnished the family friendly image of the popular tourist destination, according to Pattaya Police.

The altercation, which began as a dispute over a bill in a bar in which the victims appear to become aggressive and confrontational with bar staff and security, even with one foreign man shoving another customer out of the bar at one point who appeared to be trying to calm the situation down, escalated into physical violence, leaving the victims battered and bruised. The incident was captured on video, sparking outrage and condemnation.

In particular, footage of one guard violently kicking a tourist in the head while already lying on the ground having been beaten, caused outrage and made headlines across the globe. The guard claimed the victim attacked him first, breaking his nose on the street, which started the fight.

Some speculated that the man was seriously injured, in a coma, or deceased, but none of that was correct as the victim told  Pattaya Police today he had managed to walk away mostly uninjured from the incident and return to his hotel.

In fact, the man involved said he even went back out drinking the same night on Walking Street.

Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit, Chief of the  Pattaya City Police Station, has personally spearheaded the investigation. The police quickly detained the perpetrators who subsequently apologized for their actions but  Pattaya police had needed testimony from the victims to move forward with legal action and have spent the past several days looking for them and encouraging them online through PR statements to come and meet with police to make formal legal complaints.

Pattaya Police Hold Meeting with Bar Guards Following Viral Brawl Involving Foreign Tourists

Police from the Chonburi Provincial Police, Banglamung District, and  Pattaya City held a meeting this week with security guards from entertainment venues in  Pattaya to address concerns about tourist safety following a recent incident in which two foreign tourists were brutally assaulted by security guards.

The meeting, held at  Pattaya City Hall on June 6th, was led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jinda Kuansanong, Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police. He was joined by Banglamung District Chief Weekit Manarojkit, Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches, Pattaya Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit, and other officials.

Representatives from the Pattaya Entertainment and Tourism Industry Association, the  Pattaya Nightlife Business Association, and the Pattaya Tourist Police Volunteers were also present, along with 300 nightclub owners and security guards.

According to Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat, security guards must strictly adhere to the “5 Free” policy for entertainment venues, which includes:

• Free from children: Employees of entertainment venues must be 18 years old or older, and customers must be 20 years old or older.
• Free from drugs: The venues must not allow illegal drugs on the premises.
• Free from weapons: The venues must not allow weapons on the premises.
• Free from human trafficking: The venues must not engage in human trafficking activities.
• Free from harm: The venue must provide a safe environment for customers. This includes having adequate security measures in place, such as CCTV cameras and fire exits.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat also clarified the roles and responsibilities of security guards at entertainment venues. He emphasized that security guards “are not law enforcement officers and must never engage in violence against customers.” Instead, they should try to resolve any incidents in a peaceful way or promptly call the police if the situation escalates beyond their control.
