Where would you go?

Actually, when I was a lad, it was reasonably common for a few nutters to hijack a plane & fly from country to country, trying to negotiate along the way.

Then one of them landed in the UK and our relatively new prime minister refused to let them leave. She stated they will not leave and if every other country does the same, that would be the end to the problem (I write this from memory, so forgive me if it's not correct word for word).

Then there was a siege at the Iranian embassy, which resulted in 5 out of 6 of the offenders being shot by the SAS as they stormed the building. [One of our finest achievements in the last 30 years].

Both solutions were effective at preventing recurrences. Had we gone the other way and given in to the demands, I'm sure there would have been many more such problems.

The situation in Thailand is a little different, but the precedent has been set by caving in to the Yellow shirts.

That said, there is a certain glue holding much of this society together. If that becomes unstuck for whatever reason, all bets may be off. For obvious reasons, I will take this line of thought no further.

Yeah, a few days ago I questioned the BF about the possibility of civil war, and he just laughed at me. He said it will never happen, and seems to believe there's zero chance. If things do get out of control, the King will speak up, and nobody in this country will defy what the King says.

As for where I'd go... unless all hell broke loose, and Canada opened its borders to Thai refugees, I honestly don't know what I'd do. Maybe get the BF into Canada on a tourist / student VISA, then if things in Thailand haven't settled after the expiration of his VISA, just stay in Canada even though he'd be illegal. You can still apply for Canadian permanent residence status, even if you are currently living in the country illegally.

Either that, or just stick it out in Thailand, and hope for the best. I honestly don't know, and don't particularly want to think about it.

I really dont care about the situation in LOS now. No problems to change to KL or Singapore. Have had great times there also. Its more expensive but never needed money for sex.My next trip to LOS is in november and when the worst case is coming i will book another flight and stay in transit. I will arrive 7am and so i have all options to go anywhere in Asia.

I love Singapore - for about 72 hours max. That accent drives me right up the wall

I also remember those times and agree it is now too late for such actions. The yellow shirts pushed at the dam - and a Thaksin-proxy government opened it!
