Avoiding Songkran

A friend from the USA and I decided to avoid the heavy days of Songkran (April 18 and 19) by taking a short trip to Phnom Penh. In my opinion, Phnom Penh is fantastic. True it does not have the type of bars in Bangkok or Pattaya, but it is just as easy to find a friend for the night.

 

Our flight was on Bangkok Air. The flight we were scheduled on was cancelled so we had to take the 6pm flight. For those that have never taken the trip, the airport is very small and efficient. We got our Cambodia Visa online for $25. We were through immigration, my traveling companion picked up his checked baggage, and took a ticket for a taxi ($9). The entire process at the airport was way less than 15 minutes. The 20 minutes to our hotel.

 

Our hotel was the Blue Lime. It 1 block from the gay bar Blue Chili. I would recommend the hotel which has 14 rooms and a wonderful and very good free internet; $50 a night including tax. But ONLY if you will not be bringing guests back. No joiners! (NagaWorld Casino maybe a better choice. I stayed there 1 night)

 

We did have a surprise we did not count on....almost all of the gay bars were closed since their New Years ended on Friday the 16th. HOWEVER IT DID NOT MATTER. We found alot to do and see. Of course the tourist sites, but better is meeting the Cambodia people.

 

My travel partner and I both agreed that it might be a very good alternative to Pattaya (no beach, as is the same in Bnagkok) for expats to take up residence. The reasons, cheaper, people speak excellent English, money is US dollars, easy immigration policy, and of course the wonderful men!!!

 

I can not think of anything I would really miss...other than the great friends I have made here in Pattaya.

It is funny. I have been in Phnom Penh all day today and I love it. I have said this many times and it only keeps getting better for me. In my estimation, the city is much more fun than Pattaya. The people are nicer. There are no problem falangs. The boys are cuter. Their English is better than the ones in Pattaya. The Prices are MUCH cheaper than the ones in Pattaya.

 

Now, I have a few stories to tell on my trip there. Let me get some rest today as I am not used to sex 4 times in one day anymore. I used to do that in my glory days in Thailand but I have become an old fart and slowed down to every day or two. Tomorrow, I'll add more.

I had similar thoughts regarding PP.

 

Very fast turnover at the airport -easily the fastest I have encountered.

 

Nice guys. Excellent English. I'm not sure if this is due to better average education standards, or the fact the guys we meet in Cambodia come from further up the social class scale than in Thailand. That theory is based on a presumption the better educated Cambodians have fewer attractive career opportunities than their counterparts in Thailand. Having said that, I suspect the average standards of English tuition are better in Cambodia.

There's a bit more enthusiasm about the guys in PP, not that I would criticise the guys in Pattaya. I still fondly remember one getting all over me outside the Salt Lounge.

 

I stayed at the Manor house, which was about $30~32 at the time & they allowed joiners.

Prices seem to have increased.

In which areas do you find PP cheaper? I think it's easier to find gay joiner friendly accommodation in Pattaya for 600~1200 baht than it would be in Phnom Penh.

I just had another amazing trip to PP. I love it there. I love everything about it.

 

First, I got in and wanted my Visa in one day as I wanted to take an early flight the next AM. I got to the Thai embassy and was able to get a Double Entry visa. The cost was 120. I know that is expensive but for me it was worth it.

 

I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel. It is an amazing hotel and the rate was very reasonable at about 125 USD per night. The hotel is fantastic. The rooms are great. The food is excellent and the club lounge is a lot of fun with unlimited beverages and food there as well. The staff is fantastic. It is a 5 star hotel at a very affordable price.

 

I had my regular meet me after I went to the embassy and he was in my room early for a noon time romp. I really like this guy and see him every time I am there. After he left I also knew I wanted some other boys so I got my Tuk Tuk driver to take me to some massage places.

 

I normally hire a driver for the day. I paid him 30 for the entire day from the time he picked me up in the airport till I went back to my hotel. I also tipped him as he was good to me.

 

It was almost a comedy of errors for him to find me a gay massage. I did not write down information as he said he knew. So, he took me one place and it was not guys. Then, another jaunt in the taxi and no where again. He was driving around and around talking on his phone. Finally he took me to a place that had boys. But, not one of them was over 16 and I explained to him that I wanted gay guys but not young boys and we left immediately. Again, we drove and drove and drove. I enjoy riding as I get to look at all the boys on the street and the eye candy in the city is amazing IMHO.

 

Finally, we got to a gay massage place. There were 2 boys there and neither one was someone I would pay. Not cute in the least and I didn't feel comfortable. I had a Viagra as I was expecting to get a massage before my Boy Regular met me again at night.

 

So, off we went to a late lunch. We ate down by the water front. I found a nice cafe that was down the road from a gay bar. The gay bar was closed but the taxi drivers were all watching me eat and laughing at me as my driver was telling them the sad story of me not getting laid. The lady waitresses were very interested in helping me. But, I was not interested in them. The drivers were all pointing to each other and I would smile and laugh.

 

Then, a new driver appeared and damm, he was cute. In a teal color shirt and looking like a model they pointed to him and I smiled and nodded. I thought they were joking but the boy smiled back. I teased him to come for drink and he did. He had a beer as the group of drivers all laughed at him (and me). I did not think he was gay but I asked him for sex and he said OK. We discussed what he would do and it was everything imaginable. He said he worked in a bar before when he was younger but had been driving taxis at night for years. He was 25. We went back to his place and his brother was there. Also a very cute lad. They spoke and the brother left.

 

We had sex and I had a great time with the guy. I did not know what to pay so I have him 40 USD. He was happy and smiled. We chatted a bit and he was telling me he gives his brother 60 a month to pay for University. I thought he was asking for more money but I don't fall that easily.

 

In the course of the conversation he asked if I thought his brother was cute and I said yes. He said his brother could do same as him. I said that would be great and got his phone number for my next trip. As I was leaving the brother was coming in and they chatted and the brother took my hand and walked me back into the room. I was happy but he was going to have his work but out for him as I had already had sex twice and was not interested.

 

But, he was good and again I had a great time.

 

Now, I am not a long time guy. I like them short and sweet and both brothers took me about an hour. When finished I gave the brother the same as his sibling and called it a day.

 

My driver took me to get my documents and we waiter there a bit. I met several nice Travel Agents who all asked if I liked Thailand because of Thai lady and I said, no I like Thai boy. They all laughed and I am sure were making fun of me in their language but I had 2 of them give me their numbers. Both were in their late 20's and not money boys but were most defiantly interested in playing. I did not have time for them and so I went back to my hotel.

 

My regular boy wanted to go out and we went out to some gay bars and picked up a cute boy and had a 3 way. I didn't do much in this session but the regular wanted to fuck the lad and I really enjoyed watching and playing just a bit. The regular boy stayed at my hotel and is simply adorable. If I was there often, he would be a prime candidate for Boyfriend 1.

 

So, my time in PP was great. I love the city and the boys and the scene.

 

I do wonder what the locals have to say about gays. I was asked a few times why Thailand had so many gays. This just made me wonder if they people there are as accepting as LOS.
