TotallyOz Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I recently had the pleasure of taking Bangkok Air. I usually travel on Thai air when I am in Asia but my travel agent suggested I give them a try. Their price for a business class seat was quite a bit better than Thai Air. They also offered free changes to any segment of the ticket. When I checked in at the airport, they gave me a Fast Track through immigration. I have flown with Thai Business and never gotten that ticket. I also have flown with NWA and Delta Business and didn't get the Fast Track through immigration. Is this an option for all the airlines and they give it out sometimes or when you travel Business are you supposed to get one though certain airlines? The lounge in Bangkok was nice. Good food (not gourmet). Good Free WiFi. I liked the way it was decorated. It was not big but it was very clean and looked great. When it was time to board they put me in a special van and drove me to the plane. We were a good 5 minutes ahead of those in economy. The food on the plane was OK for airline food. The flight attendants were very nice and helpful. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience with Bangkok Air. Anyone else like it? Hate it? Had a different experience? Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I enjoy flying Bangkok Air and have flown them to Samui for convenience since they have a near monopoly on the airport. But in general price trumps everything but safety for me. Quote
Guest Patexpat Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I'm a fan of Bangkok Air too - and although not the cheapest by the time I add in taxi cost to Suwanaboom rather than taking my car and leaving it at U-Tapao the overall cost is about the same .... great in-flight service too even on the short hops. Guest GaySacGuy Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Have used Bangkok Air for direct flight to Phuket from Pattaya. Much faster and easier than going to Bangkok. It is a little pricy, but much better service and ease of access at U-Tapao. Quote
pong Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Access via fast-track lane is of course only relevant for international-most BKKair flights are domestic. But this privile is offered if the airline has some special arrangement for it-and thats usually limited to its valued status-customers. THAI/TG also offers it-but I am unsure as to which specific client-groups it is offered. BTW; it is also offered to some coming OFF the plane into Thailand. A dedicated site like flyertalk (forum miles and points) will surely give you a quick answer. Quote
Guest Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I tried BKK air from Utapao to Phuket. Service was fine. Normal laid back atmosphere of a small regional airport. Taxi from Pattaya cost a little more than for the longer trip to BKK airport. I guess this is due to widespread advertising & competition on the BKK route. Not a big deal. Quote

Guest Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Coming back into Bangkok they also gave me the Fast Track pass and they met the plane at the runway. I was the only one in business class and they had a van waiting for me and took me alone fast to the front of immigration. The rest of the passengers had to wait for the bus. I flew through immigration. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 On their website it says they offer lounge access (they call it their boutique lounge) to economy passengers on certain routes, namely flying international out of Bangkok. That's pretty good... Not many airlines offer this to economy passengers. Has anyone experienced this? Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I haven't seen any lounge, but they may have one in Bangkok. With one flight a day to UTapoa and one to Phuket, I don't think they keep lounges. So Bangkok would be the only possible place. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Here's the info: http://www.bangkokair.com/information-service/lounges.php ------ LOUNGES We provide lunge services to all our passengers, come in and relax. BOUTIQUE LOUNGES The clean and comfortable boutique lounges are similar to business-class style lounges offered by other airlines, but the striking difference is that it is available to all passengers with no extra charge or hidden fees. Each lounge has a courtesy corner where passengers can treat themselves to a multitude of free snacks and various choices of hot or cold drinks. Passengers can also enjoy free internet access from one of several computer booths while a kid Quote
