TotallyOz Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 UBC Platinum service is not available in VT6. You can subscribe and pay but the channels are not there. They say that they have one Large satellite and that it does not connect all the channels and there is nothing they can do. One can get more channels with a smaller box but they say that is against the rules. Anyone know why they do this? Quote
mahjongguy Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 UBC offers its services to multiple-occupant buildings via a different sort of contract from that offered to individual customers. Building management can pick & choose from a menu and put together a channel list that roughly corresponds to the retail Silver and Gold offerings. They can also put together a Platinum-like package, but the monthly cost would be awfully high. Note that building management has to pay UBC every month, regardless of how many occupants are being billed by building management. So, assuming that the real problem is that you are not allowed to put a dish on your balcony (or don't have line of sight to the satellite), then what you have is what you have unless and until the condo association approves paying for more channels. Guest RichLB Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 The best bet, of course, is to call UBC (Truevisions) and ask them what's going on. Off the top of my head I can only think of two justifications. One, VT6's condo committee may feel the bright red dishes affixed to their building will cheapen appearance. The other is that you may be on a side of the building that does not point directly at the satellite and therefore can not receive the signal. I can't see any reason the large rooftop dish doesn't pick up all the stations. Is there a possibility you have not done a channel search on your TV? I once thought I was missing several channels and then did that and voila!, they appeared. Quote
