I am the author, sir. Of course, I would prefer to use freely my phone, but the ban would not be a deterrent for me to attend saunas. 

Although I prefer to have full access to my phone, it makes perfect sense that they would ban them in the saunas. People can be very indiscreet and violate other attendant's privacy. 

I may be wrong, but based on my conversations with several GPs I met in Salvador, the local saunas seem to be more focused on servicing local clientele, men who do not need to use the translator. In contrast, Rio's saunas and GPs are more into delivering for the foreigners. This may explain why the Carioca saunas have a very lenient policy on cellphones. Even when there are signs showing that they are forbidden, the rule is not enforced in general.

For me the ban IS a deterrent, bcs I want to translate and also to while away my time.

I undrstnd the need for discretion, but the fact is - there's no ban in other saunas...

Reading this post, I’m starting to understand the question, "Why is he constantly in Brazil?" I've never thought I would be asked that since I've been single/divorced for five years. But when I mentioned that I already booked Rio and São Paulo for September, I got the "AGAIN?" This made me smile because I read about OP’s predicament. Luckily, I was able to brush it off, and people didn’t pay much attention to my non-answer. I also have the "loner" label. It’s funny how people ask why I don’t travel to other places in the world. I do! I go to Spain once a year and visit other European countries as well, but I am addicted to Brazilian meat 😜 

Also, I am wondering if there are any other cities worth visiting besides São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Based on the comments in this thread, Salvador doesn't sound too promising. Is there anything worth visiting in Rio Grande do Sul? I read it has a significant European population. so may some yummy GP?  i may be wrong since I am not entirely familiar with Brazil's geography.

The airport in Porto Alegre, the main city in Rio Grande do Sul, has been closed since May due to the terribly, deadly flooding in the region. Reports are that it will not re-open until  December, at the earliest.

I like Fortaleza as a city....for Sauna and app action, SP followed by Rio are my favorites...I'll be going to Belo Horizonte for my 1st time the end of Aug, I've heard mixed reviews....  I'm trying to add in new places here and there rather than just the tried and true places I always go to ...

I just liked the "vibe" of the city. I'm not a beach person, mostly a vampire and very rarely will go to a beach, Cancun, Rio, Playa del Carmen, Cuba, Puerto Vallarta, etc.... I make a point to go in Pattaya at least once per trip, Bali at sunset or later and Fortaleza I'd go every day, there are saunas nothing like other parts of Brasil, but all it takes is meeting one person to make it worth it.....plus there seems like a circuit that guys from the NE of Brasil do and never make it to Rio & SP.

Kind of like the escorts that do the circuit of Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Merida but don't make it to Mexico City.

Actually, Salvador has it's own unique "vibe" of music, cuisine, beach scene, architecture and horny men, all based in an Afro-Brazilian pot of sexy... all worth exploring.   

Fox and Point might not be 202 or 117, but nothing is.  Salvador men embody both their city and culture and have their own way of making your stay quite seductive.

I agree 100%. Rio is addictive, but I will be back to Salvador.

i've never been able to hook up with a taxi driver or Uber driver. It might be exciting, but no, I'm not the type who gets hit on. that used to bother me, but now it doesn't. I'm the one who chooses who I want to be with.

I think I'll stick to São Paulo and Rio. It's not that I'm tired of them; quite the opposite, I can't wait to go back. there so much I can do and discover there.I wish I could go every three months, lol, but I can't. I have a bunch of responsibilities here in my city.

Well, I thought the driver would be the one giving the first sign. It's kind of hard and potentially dangerous for me to make a move on a driver who might get angry, take me who knows where, or just throw me out of the moving car. Either way, whether the driver initiates or the passenger does, it sounds hot, but I've never been in that situation. I've heard about it but have no clue how to make it happen.

I already booked my hotels in those two cities, which can easily be rebooked. I just need to figure out, as I mentioned in the other thread, how to visit both cities easily. Regarding luggage, I don't worry since, over the years, I've learned how to pack in a carry-on and a backpack. I don't kid myself; for those types of trips, I just need the minimum. I'm a very laid-back traveler.

I hate to be hot (making it all the more difficult to explain my frequent trips to a country that is almost entirely tropical or subtropical). So several years ago I would add at least one city from the south to the usual Rio-SP axis. Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Florianapolis I found really disapponting with the saunas, the garotoscomlocal without much of anything special of touristic value. Foz do Iguazu is, of course spectacular. And high-quality restaurants even cheaper than SP. Worse even were some small towns like Gramado and Campos do Jordao, (The historic towns of Minas Gerais were nice and my favorite restaurant of the whole country, Glouton, is there, but it is hotter there than SP.

For what it's worth, here are my tactics...

1. Is the driver parked and waiting near a sauna? Then I'm tempted to say based on my experiences in Prague, Salvador, and SP, it's a sure thing that they want to be seduced. 🟢
2. Sit in the front seat. If the driver is not eager for you to do that, then he is probably not going to be too open.🟥  And my approach depends on physical contact.
3. A little small talk is OK. But I don't like to get them thinking (potentially feeling guilty) about their wife and kids. After where are they from (Você é daqui?) or how long in town (Quantos anos aqui?), I prefer the topic of Brazilian football (Você gosta de futebol?).
4. While talking about football (favorite team, etc.), I put my hand on their leg for just a half-second longer than a quick tap. This step is pivotal. If he move his leg away from you and lowers his arm to block access:  🟥 Forget it.
5. If he moves his right arm higher and keeps his leg accessible (or even opens it wider):  🟢 Green light. So, return your hand to his leg (a solid confident placement not a scared light touch) and ask if he plays football. Squeeze his leg and praise is strength and power. 💪 Now leave your hand to slowly massage his muscular leg. Unless he pulls away, proceed slowly upward. Conversation stops.
6. Soon you will find him rock hard. Enjoy.

I only do this once every year or two when I am attracted to the driver, feel the right vibes, and am not exhausted from the sauna, but my success rate is 100%.

Brazilians are very comfortable with physical contact even with "strangers." This morning in Campo Grande my handsome young waiter who seemed pleased to meet an Americano gave me a side-hug after I patted his shoulder on the way out. I touch and get touched by Brasileiros all the time. It is one of the cultural things that makes Brazil so warm and wonderful.
