My group, among many others, gave the Weekend B.B.Q Dinner Buffet a try on its opening night. Many quite well-known people were there, including several members of the Pattaya Mail staff. Both Pascal and Kim were also there to make sure all went well. It did!

Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and I overheard plenty of compliments. The food, quality, and service were up to Pascal's high standards. Everything went off beautifully.

I asked Pascal how he can do this at this price. He simply smiled and said, "It isn't easy."

If you enjoy this kind of buffet, I highly recommend giving it a try. Make reservations. If last night was any indication, it's going to be a packed house every weekend.

The breakfast buffet's opening day is tomorrow (Monday). My group will be there, for sure!

You have your own group now.. It isn't just a collective of friends that go out and eat?

No, it's my group. I paid plenty in off fees for them, so they're mine!

This morning we tried the breakfast buffet. I think this is one you really ought to try. It was just excellent and what a deal! It's every bit as good as breakfast buffets I've been to in this city where you pay 800 baht on up. Here you pay 145 baht plus whatever you want to leave for a tip. Everything listed on the menu is there. They also have an omelet cook who will make your omelet (or eggs any style you want) and serve it to you piping hot. He also has sausages, steaks, etc. that he'll cook and serve to you. They also serve you the coffee or tea. I prefer that to getting it myself. I always manage to spill half of it. The breakfast includes all the fresh brewed coffee and tea you want. No extra charge for refills. The same is true for water and juices.

Kim, herself, is right there to supervise and make sure you receive the service and food quality you came for.

You get your choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Comfortable seats for the smokers are available, well away from where non-smokers will be subjected to anyone's smoke.

At this price, at this quality, I think this breakfast buffet will very soon become the most popular breakfast in town.

I will certainly try it on my next visit. But are the juices freshly squeezed or processed and out of some container? I really want fresh orange juice when I go out for breakfast, even if I have to pay a bit more for it.

Exactly how hot is 'piping hot'? My group doesn't like burning their mouths on overly hot food. These things are important to know!

Consider this a rave review of Poseidon's new breakfast offering. Forget the price (a whopping 145 baht), it's the food that makes me want to stand up and cheer. The variety will keep me coming back almost daily - smoked fish, pickled herring, smoked salmon, croissants freshly baked, Danish pastries, fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh brewed coffee, and much more. And those are just from the cold table. The hot food is even more varied - try the mushroom dish! For those of you that like early breakfasts (they open at 8) or a late breakfast (they close at 1 PM), I urge you to give it a try. You will be back often!!!!

Jomtien, if your food is served too hot, just wait a few minutes and it will cool off to your liking. If it is served too cool, there is nothing to be done about it. I think piping hot is best.

I'm sorry. I left my rectal thermometer at home this morning. It was hot. Not burning hot. As far as I was concerned it was just right.

I'm not sure, though, how long it will take for the blisters to heal or whether Thailand will accept a 'Stella' lawsuit for the coffee.

I went to the Poseidon on my last trip in September with a party of 7 for dinner. The restaurant was almost empty it was 9.00 PM on a Saturday night. We aproached the bar to order some drinks before dinner, the Farang Manager was on the phone by the bar. After standing there for a couple of minutes unattended I tried to politely interupt and ask for a table. The response was a bad tempered school mistress look and told "WAIT "in a raised stern voice. Needless to say we all walked out and went next door. That manager lost a large food and drinks sale in an already empty restaurant and bar.

The meal next door,at Olivers, was very good. It was the first time I had been there and I will go again. I will never set foot in the Possidon again, even if the food is free until I hear that this manager has been kicked out.

The poseidon was a great place some years ago when two Germans owned it (one with missing fingers)

You can safely go again. That manager is no longer with Poseidon. He left five months ago. Kim manages Poseidon herself now.

The other restaurant you referred to is called L'Olivier. They are closed until after Songkran. The Ritz and Aquarius, both in Jomtien Complex, are also closed until after Songkran.

By the way, if anyone is going to go to Poseidon (or anywhere in the Jomtien Beach area) between now and the end of Songkran, I suggest going by car, riding up front with the driver if you go by baht bus, or call Poseidon and ask for their courtesy car. If not, unless you are going for a late dinner you will get soaked on the way and probably on the way back too. I've seen groups still splashing people between Pattaya Tai and Jomtien beach as late as 9:00pm.
