I am still interested in Tui's Place, but I am wondering how it looks from outside

i.e. from the beach. If someone has a pic, thank you in advance for sending it <Kurt

Is Tui's still refusing to send food to Rit's Beach?

The story I heard was that a young farang ordered food and he wasn't happy with it. He told Rit and Rit told him to talk to Tui's. He did and after some words Tui's employee threw the food in the young guy's face. The guy reported it to the police and Tui had to pay the guy 500 baht. Because of that he was/is refusing to serve food to Rit's Beach.

PS. By the way what is Rit's Beach?

Rit's beach is one of the more popular beach concessions in the gay beach area. As you face the beach from Tui's Place. it's the third concession to the right. It's clearly marked, however all the beach concessions in that area are part of the gay beach.

I'm not sure what you mean, because in post #1, you said you're looking for a picture "from outside, i.e. from the beach" and in post #7 you said "a picture from the house".

I only have a photo of the former. It is at tuisplace_4969.jpg

Tui's place is the left half of the photo. The right half is Room-Club.

You really should tell us WHY it is so important to see this picture.....

WOW :excl: this is exactly for what I was looking for :D

the reason is: I am coming with 2 friends in November 2010

for 3 weeks to Jomtien and so I am looking for a decent,

comfortable stay at the beach (Tui's Place, Avalon or RoomClub

is the question). Very important is a pool, at Avalon I can see

it on their website, the 2 others told me that there is behind

their buildings one for use of their guests  by the

way while surfing I found out that RoomClub is for sale  in any case, dear Mack, thanks a lot for your

pic and greetings from icecold Switzerland <Kurt

When I stayed at Tui's five years ago there was no pool. I suspect there still isn't but perhaps have arrangements with a nearby pool.

That is correct. There is no pool. Maybe they have an arrangement with the Avalon Hotel next door or perhaps you can make your own arrangement for a fee. Of course you are also within easy distance of one of the biggest pools of all, Pattaya Park.

I believe Tui's has an arrangement with Grand Condotel which is next door and right outside the back door of Tui's. At least, when I lived at the Grand Condotel a couple years ago, they used to share use of the pool.

But, in selecting a hotel to stay at, you might want to check out the trek to a baht bus route. I'm a lazy guy and walking to Thappyra after a night of bar hopping might not be all that convenient.

After reading Tui's behavior against a guy which wasn't happy with his food

I don't think we will choose this place :o and RoomClub is for sale, so

I suppose we will go better to the Avalon

PS. Are there no possibilities to get back late from Pattaya to Jomtien?

Hi Atril666, thank you! After reading the tripadvisor reviews, I wouldn't choose the Rabbit

because I am sure I wouldn't like the owners  so Avalon

will be our choice :excl:

The Rabbit Resort is definitely gay friendly. Has anyone checked into whether the Avalon is gay friendly? Despite the fact that it's right in the heart of the gay beach area, it seems to be primarily a family hotel.

Only stayed once at the Avalon - and vowed never to return! We were booked for 3 nights and checked out after 1. The room was very basic for the price paid, cracks in both the wall plaster work and floor even though the hotel was only a couple of years old, the breakfast was less than average, and my companion had great trouble on check out when they said they could not accept his charge card. In the end, they did, but it took 20 minutes, then they swiped twice and had to go the refund process. It was clear the desk staff did not care in the slightest.

Admittedly this was 2 years ago and it may have changed for the better. But I'll still not return.

Unlike Kurt, I do like the Rabbit's owners. They go out of their way to assist guests - and it is very gay friendly.

Thank you fountainhall for your opinion, why you don't write this on 'tripadvisor'? I value a

lot of it (I write myself reviews and I had already contact with other review-writers, so I

can trust them) :D its also from the reviews that I don't like the owners because I don't agree how they handle some problems with guests  <regards Kurt

I just looked at the reviews of the Avalon on Tripadvisor. I am wondering why you are saying it is a good place to check. There are 5 reviews, four of which are in English. They all say the staff doesn't speak much English, but that's the only thing the reviews had in common. One person wrote that the restaurant was terrible and overpriced. Another person wrote that the restaurant was wonderful and inexpensive. That's all I saw. Nothing much about the rooms, amenities, proximity to places to go, or anything else.

I couldn't find anything where anyone had written about how the staff handles problems.

What's the reliable part?

@Gaybutton: if you are used to read these reviews you can get a lot out of it and if not,

you can contact the writer directly to clear it. For the food-taste I have to say:

one likes it and the other doesn't :rolleyes

english isn't the strong part of thai-hotel/restaurant staff (its my experience after 5 times

holidays in Thailand (and very soon the 6th times) :D

In the meantime I had some email-contacts with the Avalon reception and I must say, good

english and very courteous and helpful :excl: the rooms with 49 m2 you can visit on their

website and their look and description sounds very comfortable <Kurt

I was not aware of tripadviser when I stayed there. Since I became aware of it, I have written quite a number of reviews. Like you, I pay a lot of attention to the comments - more the negative than the positive. I have discovered that quite a number of hotels - especially those in the 2 and 3 star category - prompt reviews or write their own. You can tell when a lot of people who have made no other contributions and have no travel map think a hotel is heaven on earth. A few months ago I did write to tripadviser pointing out one hotel in Pattaya very close to the top of the recommended hotels that had, in my view, over 12 'fake' reviews. The site soon deleted most of those reviews and that hotel has since rightly dropped a couple of dozen places down the list.

I stayed at the Rabbit Resort last October with my bf (ex now). The room was great, the staff were friendly, the restaurant was okay (a bit pricy for what they offer), and they have their own little spot on the beach with towel and umbrellas (which they allow hawkers to come and sale their wares however they're quite adamant about only buying drinks from their bar.

I'd recommend it to my friends.

I'll be back in Pattaya in May, and I won't be staying at the Rabbit this go around because I wouldnt necessarily say its a singles' getaway persay- more of a romantic/relax spot.

I'm booked at the Room Club, has anyone ever stayed there?

Nice thing about the Agoda website is that you had to have booked through them in order to write a review so they're legit.

I use Agoda to book hotels and the reviews are usually very close to what I encounter.
