Guest fountainhall Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 You can dream about a future post apocalyptic world where luggage is forbidden for international travel. LOL I fear a dream is what it will remain. GT is a sprightly young thing compared to many of us, but even he will probably agree he is not going to live to see that day! Quote

But, I do know that if no luggage is allowed on travel, I may have to grow wings and fly myself. Quote
PattayaMale Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Holy crap... 5 bags! Even if I spent all year in hotels, I don't think I would want to lug around 5 bags. I just have a small carry-on case, even if I'm traveling for a month or two. All I need is my laptop, some toiletries and a good pile of clothes. I find it quite refreshing being so uncluttered when I travel. Now I want to do the same at home. I want to "digitise" all my books, CDs and DVDs so they don't lie around cluttering up the place. Once this is done, all I need is a couple of 1-terrabyte portable hard drives to store everything (with appropriate back ups). Why not have a home base (buy an apartment) in the places where you spend the most time, like Rio and Pattaya or Bangkok? If you are serious about the books, CDs and DVDs, I's like to suggest that you consider donating them to Thais for Life in Pattaya. Since you travel so light, you could use you allowable luggage allowance and bring them to Pattaya or Bangkok when you stop next time Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I think that this is a good idea, but the prices that the company are charging are too high for me. From the US to Thailand, it is $8.33/lb. I can take an extra 50 lb suitcase for $150, which is only $3.00/lb. So, while I like the idea...Not at these prices. Quote

(1) I have friends who would take them, (2) I almost never fly direct to Thailand so I would be lugging it through 2-3 other places first and (3) Pattaya is not normally one of the places I visit in Thailand...
