macaroni21 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Technical question for the owner and moderator: Problem is when I spot an embarrassing spelling, grammar or factual error in a post I put made previously. I have since logged out. Now I want to correct the error and log in again. Yet I am unable to get an "edit" icon/option on the old post for me to make the change. I only get an "edit" option provided I am still in the same login session. On all other boards, when the board sees that I was the writer of the previous post, even if there was a logout in between, it permits me to edit old posts. How would this be done here? Quote
Gaybutton Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 "How does one edit previous posts?" One doesn't. The board software sets a time limit for editing posts. If you have not edited your post within that time period, then the edit icon will no longer appear for you. There are three solutions: 1. Proofread carefully before hitting the POST button. 2. Ask GT to change the time limit. A substantial bribe might get him to do it. 3. Send a PM to me telling me what you want changed in which post. A substantial bribe might get me to do it. One thing to take into consideration. I don't think GT would mind me correcting spelling and grammar mistakes for you, but he would object strongly if I change what you said. So, since he's the boss, I won't change what you said. If that is what you want changed and find the edit button gone before you can make the change, then you will have to write a new, corrected version of your post or ask GT to make the change. I won't go against GT's wishes whether I agree with him or not. Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Technical question for the owner and moderator: Problem is when I spot an embarrassing spelling, grammar or factual error in a post I put made previously. We do have a time limit for editing posts. I think that is set to 45 minutes. But, I can reset to 60. The reason is that we don't like the substanative matter of the posts changed. If you ever need a change, just PM me. I am pretty good with responding fast. So is GB. I won't go against GT's wishes whether I agree with him or not. My goodness. Thank you. It only took 10 years, 600 aspirins and a bottle of wine to get you to write that. Quote
