mahjongguy Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I have not used my thai mobile phone for well over 9 months , so i will have to purchase a new sim card, is it possible to buy one in a 7-11 or family mart At 7-11, get a 1-2-Call SIM for 50 baht. It includes 15 baht of credit, so you should also ask for a 100 or 300 baht top-up card. Quote
pong Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 1.assuming you are now not in Thaild-first check when back here-it may still work. 2.yes, any 7/11 sells them-dozens a day. needless to ask. 3.there are many packages-not just the 50 bt mentioned. Note that it may often pay off to pay a slightly higher rate/min and get much longer time-on the low rates you often have to use a minimum amount/day or use the fone at least weekly or so. Quote

Would you mind clarifying what you said here? I can't make sense out of it. Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Alternatively: 1 PAYG tariffs have such wildly different pricing plans it's quite difficult to work out what is the most economic, unless you have a precise understanding of your own call use profile. And that's in my home (UK) market. 2 Considering the picture in Thailand: All the tourist REALLY needs is a cheap SIM card that's preferably still valid when he returns 49 weeks later & still offers some value for calls. Now if someone knows a card that offers this AND is widely available, please share the details. Quote
Guest Max Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Dtac Simple Sim # Calling Rates (VAT excluded) * 1 baht/minute to any network, 24 hours for the first 90 days after activation * 2 baht/minute after 90 days. # Top up your SIM and receive a validity date extension to 1 year. The validity extension will apply on the day after you top up your SIM SIMPLE Quote
