Guest PattayaGayTV Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 In our new edition Pattaya GAY TV we are reporting about the Chinese New Year and Valentine Quote
Guest gay_grampa Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I have just watched this - for those of you who don't want to waste 20 minutes of your life here is a synopsis: 00.01 - 00.58 Sponsors swimwear advert 00.58 - 02.00 Boyztown Promotion 02.00 - 11.00 BBB Show 11.00 - 17.30 Copa Show 17.30 - 18.04 El Duo at Cafe Royale 18.05 - 18.50 Sponsors swimwear advert 18.50 - end. Boyztown Promotion Can we assume that at Chinese New Year and Valentines (one of the busiest times of the year) in the whole of Pattaya and Jomtien, the only things that were happening were in Boyztown? Nothing in Jomtien Complex or in Sunee Plaza? Previous editions of this 'Pattaya' TV were: Birthday Party at Copa in Boyztown Boyztown in the Pattaya Bed Race New Year in Boyztown Maisie Trollette interview Snow in Boyztown and Oscars (Boyztown) party Merry Christmas from ... guess where? Anniversaries of BBB and Panorama (Boyztown) Boyztown Pride Street Party Mr. Pattaya Pride from Boyztown Lets cut to the chase - this TV station is around to promote Boyztown and very, very little else. No thanks. No more. I shall not be watching Pattaya Gay TV again. Quote
Gaybutton Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Lets cut to the chase - this TV station is around to promote Boyztown and very, very little else. No thanks. No more. I shall not be watching Pattaya Gay TV again. I don't know if I feel as strongly about it as you do, but it does seem to cover little else, at that. The shows themselves were all the same old drag queen and lip sync shows. Won't any of these bars ever come up with something different? When people keep asking me why I won't go to these things, there's your answer. While I realize that many, probably the majority, love those shows, I absolutely hate them. The last thing I'm going to do is spend my money to see a show that I can't stand and would probably walk out on. Quote
Guest gay_grampa Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I don't know if I feel as strongly about it as you do, but it does seem to cover little else, at that. My objection is that I think this TV station's reports are trying con those who don't know into believing that Boyztown is the only gay area in Pattaya and that simply is not true. I have nothing against Boyztown promoting itself but if this is really "Pattaya" Gay TV then there should be reports from Jomtien Complex; Sunee Plaza; the late night discos: NAB, Dave Man Club etc; the Dongtan Beach area, Sansuk; Day Night etc. and there should be equal time given to reports from all of these areas. What about a few reports from good restaurants that gay people frequent? I understand that there are costs involved in the PattayaGayTV enterprise and that those who cough up the money for it should get a plug but it appears that, at present, other areas are being deliberately excluded. If they are not going to spread the reports out from the whole of Gay Pattaya then the TV station should be renamed "Boyztown TV". Quote
macaroni21 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 From brief glimpses of the audience in the TV clips, it seems the bars were well patronised. Looks like a pretty good high season this year for Boyztown? Or were other non-special evenings vastly different? Quote

These shows suck and I can't believe the majority enjoys such crap. Quote
Guest Kurt Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 You're being waaaay to kind. These shows suck and I can't believe the majority enjoys such crap. So do I, in a few months I will come with friends the 1st time to Pattaya (Jomtien) and if thats the famous nightlife of Pattaya we will not come we are all gay and dont like old dragqueens and lady-boys....we like MEN!!! Quote
Gaybutton Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 we are all gay and don't like old dragqueens and lady-boys....we like MEN!!! I'm surprised, but glad to know that people seem to agree with me on this. When I go to a go-go bar, you know why I'm there? I'm there to see the go-go boys. Imagine that. I'm there to see the go-go boys. Isn't that strange of me? The last thing on earth I'm in there for is to see these horrendous lady-boy lip sync shows. As soon as those start, I'm out the door. Fortunately, Kurt, not all the bars put on these shows and most of the time you'll probably have found your man long before the shows start. If not, there are still plenty of go-go bars that don't have the shows or have them at different times. You won't have a problem finding what you're looking for. Quote
Guest Patexpat Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 May be they are simply not welcome at certain venues .... ? Quote

What about a few reports from good restaurants that gay people frequent? It will be interesting to see how the station will promote and depict the two upcoming fundraisers for two worthy charities in the coming few weeks. The first is on the 26th of February and takes place in Boystown for the benefit of Pattaya Pride, and it's associated charities; the second is on the 6th of March in Sunnee Plaza for the benefit of Take Care. Both are events worthy of support from all of us. Quote
Guest PattayaGayTV Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 When Pattaya Gay TV started with his program in October 2009 we wrote to many bar and venue owners a letter to inform us about special events and parties. We even searched by our self for interesting events. Very view answers. In Jomtien Complex some owners are worry about copying there shows if we show the pictures to long on Pattaya Gay TV. In Sunee Plaza many people not want to get recorded and the owner of the website suneeplaza info threaded the restaurant owner of Balkan Express last year that all the other members of SPI would not show up on his party for opening the new bar counter if Pattaya Gay TV will be there. So he (Duck) called us in the afternoon and cancelled the TV team with this mentioned reason. Not our lost Quote
Gaybutton Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 In Sunee Plaza many people not want to get recorded That's precisely the problem. Very few people are going to want to find themselves recorded and appearing on your web site. You said it yourself. Pattaya Gay TV can be viewed by anyone in the entire world who has Internet access. Nobody wants to be involuntarily "outed" and that is why you're getting little cooperation from bar owners and the gay community in general. The bar owners have little enough business as it is. If they permit you to come in with your cameras, then they won't have any business at all. The solution to that seems simple enough to me. You want to record bar shows? Try to arrange recording their rehearsals instead of the actual show. An audience won't be present during rehearsals. You want to record go-go boys? Offer them an incentive to agree to be recorded and do the recording before the bar opens. If you want to interview venue owners, try to get them to agree to interviews privately. If you want support from the gay community, then you're going to have to come up with ways to present whatever it is you want to present without causing gay tourists to feel threatened by your presence. When you make statements such as "we have to stand together," ask yourself what people here on a holiday would have to gain by standing together with you and allowing themselves to be filmed and appear before the entire world. Why would they want to stand with you? They have plenty they could lose, but what do they have to gain? I can't see anything they have to gain that would make the risks worthwhile to them. All they would need would be wives, bosses, their children, their friends, etc. to spot them inside a gay bar. Quite frankly, the way I see it Pattaya's gay scene managed to survive quite nicely before Pattaya Gay TV ever came into existence and will still survive just as nicely if your project fails. I believe people are perceiving Pattaya Gay TV as an intrusion and a threat, not as an enhancement. You're going to need to take steps to change that perception. If you want the gay community to stand together with you, then you're going to have to come up with ways to gain support. You're not going to get support from people here on a holiday when you show up with your video cameras, causing them to be fearful that they might involuntarily be shown publicly on the Internet. I've offered a few suggestions. Maybe others also have suggestions. Aside from that, Pattaya Gay TV is your venture and your responsibility. I don't see any justification for you to be trying to volunteer the gay message boards to be a part of your project or help you earn support. I'm sure we'll all be very happy to support you provided we can support you without anyone feeling threatened. But just how you will accomplish that is your own affair. Quote
Guest gay_grampa Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Thank you 'PattayaGayTV' for your explanation. I was unaware that other areas had been approached in the past and had refused your offered services. I have now also read the 'about' section of your website and it is clear that your TV service is open to everyone. Therefore I apologize for my harsh words above. I find it difficult to believe that many more gay business owners are not banging on your doors, welcoming the chance for free publicity but maybe in time they will come round to appreciating the worth of your services. What is more unbelievable is your statement: As long the webmaster of SPI threat the bar owners and work against Pattaya Gay TV as long there is no good chance to promote and report effective about a well developing gay area like Sunee Plaza. What can the webmaster of SPI have against your initiative? What does he have to gain by denying free publicity to the Sunee area? Why are bar owners in Sunee so afraid of their webmaster? It would be interesting for him or others to comment on your statement? Quote
Guest rowland Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 At first I would like to thank you to team of Pattaya Gay TV for making interesting news from Gay Pattaya, even if it is mostly from Boyztown. For me is Boyztown Nr.1 gay area in Pattaya, but last holiday I was accomodated in TwoGuys Guesthouse and was very satisfied. Not only with accomodation but with Sunee Plaza too, because I think this area improved dramatically for last 2 years... ...but there is some thing I really hate in Pattaya...SPITE...Spite between Boyztown and Sunee Plaza... When I came to Boyztown, I have heard many bad things about Sunee Plaza - for example there are working underage boys, drug users, it is area for cheap charlies etc... When I sit in some host bar in Sunee Plaza I have heard many bad things about Boyztown - everything is overpriced, services are very on low level for these prices etc. I think in this atmosphere it is not real to inform about Pattaya like about 1 gay destination and this is shame, because both areas are loosing now in this atmosphere... For me it is not important if drink costs 99 baht or 160 baht, if I get what I want. I go to bars to make some fun, I dont off guys, because I have Thai friend (33 years old), whom I spent many times my holiday with. But sometimes we go to look some show or eat some good food in gay bars or restaurants. And I really dont want to hear laments of bar owners or their employees, which gay area is worse...and sorry I must say - I hear it very often... So I wish to PattayaGayTV good luck in their work and hope they win the fight between these two areas...and hope these both areas will improve standards of their services.. Quote
Guest Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Thank you 'PattayaGayTV' for your explanation. I could not agree more. Thank you PattayaGayTV for the explanation. Having tried to do some photos in Sunee Plaza and gotten yelled at, cursed at, etc. I know you are right. Most of the venues there not only do not want cameras, they will not allow them. What is more unbelievable is your statement: What can the webmaster of SPI have against your initiative? What does he have to gain by denying free publicity to the Sunee area? Why are bar owners in Sunee so afraid of their webmaster? It would be interesting for him or others to comment on your statement? Yes, I was a bit shocked at this statement as well. I don't think any website views another one as competition as we are all trying to promote tourists to travel to the place we love. ...but there is some thing I really hate in Pattaya...SPITE...Spite between Boyztown and Sunee Plaza... When I came to Boyztown, I have heard many bad things about Sunee Plaza - for example there are working underage boys, drug users, it is area for cheap charlies etc... Guest gay_grampa Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Looking around other forums today I see that there are two upcoming events in Sunee Plaza that could qualify for a visit by Pattaya Gay TV: Marina Inn swimming pool opening Friday, 26 Feb starting at 6.00pm TAKE CARE will be holding a fund raising event at The Corner Bar, located in the center of Sunee Plaza, on Saturday, 6 March 2010, starting at 9.00 pm I would like to see these events covered by Pattaya Gay TV ... does anyone else? Can PGTV tell us if they have asked to report on these events and if they have been allowed to do so? Quote
Guest Mark7711 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 This is the exact reason you do not have many bar owners support after you approached me to film the GLOW NIGHT you told me you would telephone the next day to confirm the time you did not. In the mean time I had spoken with the partners and manager of the bar and they felt the customers might not appreciate being videoed I was polite to you and explained why, there was no mention of police trouble or underage customers and had you telephoned to confirm your appointment your staff would not have had to come out. And please if you are going to put in comments like (customer came in with a not 18 year old boy) Please get your gossip correct the customer was a Thai over 18 but not 21 MARK Quote

Guest Astrrro Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 is area for cheap charlies etc... Sunee bars are not for cheap charlies rather for those who are willing to pay reasonable prices and don't buy into the crap that if one doesn't want to pay tourist prices that they're cheap. The real cheap charlies patronize Minimart 24 where a LARGE Archa, with glasses for two, is 35 baht or the Thai whiskey makeshift stands that sell shots for 10 baht or the other tiny minimart further up Soi VC that sells a delicious melon ball type drink with two types of booze for 30 baht. You said that night, that you talked with your partner one night before again and you agreeing it would not be good to be on PGTV during this time. You said you have some problems with police in moment and no idea how to deal with that. I offered you my help. The rest of the story you know better and I not want to cook up this all again. I still like Krazy Dragon and all what you did and do there. So I not understand why you want to sell KD? http://www.gingerasia.com/business-nightclub-no1-gay-club-pattaya-pattaya-gingerad8214.aspx Quote
PattayaMale Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I also appreciate the effort by PattayaGayTV and GB's suggestions. I feel that another clue was dropped as to what is (did) go on in Sunee Plaza as to the cancellation of the Valentine/Chinese festival, which still has not been answered. When David of Pattaya or Boxer use to post pictures on line the customers faces were blurred. Most recently when I see pictures posted, this is not done any more. The time GB got "slimed" many pictures where posted on Ting Tong without faces blurred and I did not hear any uproar. My picture has been posted (no one asked if it would be ok) from events at Oscar's and Oud's, but not a problem for me. I can understand GB's point but it does not seem to be universally followed. The cancellation of events in Sunee Plaza is unfortunate for not only PattayaGayTV, but customers that make plans around announced events. Quote
Guest Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 So I not understand why you want to sell KD? http://www.gingerasi...ngerad8214.aspx I think this quote speaks volumes toward the heart of the matter. Another poster commented between the apparent animosity between Boyztown and Sunee. Should I read that into this statement? Quote
