Having just read GB's post about Mr. Moo's, it occurred to me that we all might know of some little known places (restaurants, retail outlets, etc.) that others might like. I'm not looking for a lengthy review of these places, just a list and a brief description. Let me start with a couple of my own.

Canary Bay Restaurant - This is a little place on Soi 4 in Jomtien that serves huge portions of French food, in the French provincial style. You get more than you can eat and it's delicious. Try their Cordon Blue for under 300 baht. On Thursday, he serves couscous - a huge meal and although I've never ordered it, my friends say it's some of the best they've had - also for under 300 baht.

Unknown name desert place - Also on soi 4 in Jomtien is a little french owned desert place. The best my friends and I have ever eaten. It's on the right side of the street about 2 or 3 shop houses past where the road splits - look for the refrigerated display case along the road. All sorts of delights and each priced at 90 baht or less.

Hotel Denmark - On soi White House (unnumbered soi between soi 7 and soi 8 off Jomtien Beach Road) is the best deal for breakfast I've found (actually, a friend found it). They have a buffet offering which includes eggs cooked to order, several cereals, bacon, some Scandinavian meat ball thingies, fried potatoes, 3 Thai dishes, sliced cold cuts (cheese, salami, ham, etc.), a pickled fish dish, yogurt, several bread choices, several drink selections, unlimited coffee or tea (freshly brewed), and other choice. They serve up to noon every day and it's priced at 160 baht. A great deal and tasty!!

That should start this thread off, but let's not limit it to just restaurants.

For those of you looking for plants, flowers, and tropical fish, along with all kinds of equipment and supplies, in Pattaya every Saturday and Sunday that big open field right next to the McDonald's-Mini Siam on Sukhumvit becomes a huge open air market devoted to only those kinds of products. You'll find everything from an incredible variety of orchids to fruit trees, along with plenty of tropical fish and supplies, all at prices much lower than you'll find elsewhere.

In Bangkok many people think the famous Chatuchak market is solely a weekend market. Not so. If you are interested in plants, go on a Wednesday. That's the day they bring in all the plants. You can easily spend the entire day there and still not see them all. It's an incredible variety, again at prices lower than you'll find elsewhere. If you are not getting there in your own vehicle I like to get there on the Metro. Get off at the Kamphaeng Phet stop. That puts you right inside the Chatuchak market. All the tropical fish shops are open on Wednesdays too.

I'd like to also use this thread for requests for information. I have one. I'm looking for a really good quality computer chair. Everywhere I've looked so far either sells garbage or chairs at prices I can't afford. If someone knows of a good place to look, I would appreciate it.

What I don't want is a chair upholstered in Naugahyde. I hate Naugahyde. I stick to it as if someone had poured Super Glue all over it. I prefer a cloth upholstery.
