La Cuisine Au Beurre, Le Petite Planete

These two places serve great food at a very fair price. CAB has special everynight that includes appetizer, entree, desert and coffee for 245 baht.

Le Petite Planete has a similar special without the coffee for 255 baht.

Think I like Le Petite Planete better and the farang owner/chef seems to really know how to cook. Cool murals on the wall.

I'm not a foodie and generally eat Thai street food but these places are a not too extravagant splurge. When they ask what I want to drink, I reply nam neung gaew which is a glass of water which is free.

I made the above quote and want to edit it but I get no "edit" option when I call up the thread and look at my entry. Anyway, the new restaurant will be called Chez Vickie and it will open in about 2 weeks. The sign outfront advertises for 2 cooks, 2 waiters and 1 cleaning person.

Chez Vickie opened tonight. The restaurant is French and there is a Vickie - he is a guy and he is the owner. Outside menu specials - has soup for 90 baht - some appetizers like spring rolls for 150 baht and entries such as pork chops, lamb, etc - in the 200+/300 + baht range - a few entries in the 400 + baht range. I have no idea what is included in these prices. The place is nicely decorated - they have female mannequins in all of the floor to ceiling windows - maybe 6 in all - and they are dressed in finery - beaded dresses - ball gowns, masks as in "masked ball" - inside there is a jewelry display case filled with necklaces, etc - I understand the jewelry is for sale. I think there may also be an aquarium - I remember seeing a bubbling tank of water - guess I would not make a great detective - it could be the "daily catch" tank for all I know- Chez Vickie is located in the Day Night area - between Day Night Soi 1 and Day Night Soi 2 (I think). It is on the 4 corners with the other 3 corners being Grottinos, Salt & Pepper restauant and Bordeaux restaurant.
