Guest fountainhall Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I don't have a problem with it if they let you know, but I would be upset if the fee comes as a surprise later Every time I have been there, I have been told about the "upstairs" and the Bt. 150 fee (even the boys freely tell you that) - except the night we were all told many times that it would be free. Once I asked if I could go up and take a look. No problem and no charge. There were no other boys up there that I could see. So I assume you decide on the boy/s you want and then go up with him/them. Like gorcum, I hope Khun Wat stays there a long time! He runs a great bar. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I think the main issue is whether they let their customers know, before they go upstairs, that they are going to be charged the 150 baht fee. I don't have a problem with it if they let you know, but I would be upset if the fee comes as a surprise later. Do they let people know? I'd go a step further and say that customers want to know before they enter the bar. I don't want to have ask a mamasan what the policy is since I don't want interaction with maamsans. And I don't want to ask a boy cause that will be misinteperted as my wanting to upstairs now. Whatever their policy is, is fine with me. I just want to know what it is in advance and not have to ask about it. Quote

I wonder if you have actually been to that particular bar. I never once had to ask about the upstairs or the upstairs fee. The boys all mentioned that was the fee - if I wanted to go upstairs. Never once did I have any pressure to do so. Quote
Guest manmarkman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Well I was wondering , since it is a review-thread, how are the boys ? What kind of boys ? Lighting , music, atmosphere ? Don't really care about the prices since LOS is DIRT-CHEAP ! Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I wonder if you have actually been to that particular bar. Yes, I have been to that particular bar. April 14, 2010 seems to indicate that there is now no fee which is not the experience of recent patrons that posted above. I haven't felt pressured in that bar. However, in general, I find certain types of conditional questions about options and alternatives can be confusing in Thailand. So I prefer to find out the real deal online if possible. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Yes, I have been to that particular bar. Apologies for not reading back far enough. The only time I have been there when it was frequently announced that there would be no upstairs fee was 8 April. Perhaps that was a special for the reopening date, I don't know. But as I said, there was also food for everyone that day. Quote
Gaybutton Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I think it would be best if someone takes a copy of that article, shows it to Wat, find out from him what the story is, and then let us know what he says. Quote

Guest gayaffairs Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Checking further, it seems that PG Weekly got their info from SPI. News of what's happening in Sunee Plaza, Gay Pattaya, Gay Thailand The information posted on the Newsletter last week was sent to pgreport along with the photographs by the bar's management. On Tuesday April 20 the following was received from the bar: ". . . I talked to Wat today and he mentioned that there still is a 150 baht charge, he sometimes waives it . . . Also during the low season, non alcoholic beverages will be 89 Baht and Beer 99 Baht . . ." Quote
Gaybutton Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 ". . . I talked to Wat today and he mentioned that there still is a 150 baht charge, he sometimes waives it If that is the case, then on what basis does he decide to waive the charge? Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Apologies! I was going to make another point, and then realised it had already been made! Quote
