Guest taylorsquare Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Went to HAPPY BOYS GO GO BAR,just on outer Sunee Plaza,i THINK CALLED SOI VC. Well quite busy with customers, hardly any seating left. The boys all wear white shorts split at the sides. They dance on round turntables in front of you swinging their asscheeks, well the boy i was tipping was anyway. Now the OFF FEE IS 400 BAHT,UNLESS you buy the boy your going to OFF a drink which is 150 baht, and in that case your off fee is 300 BAHT. There is a upstairs area where you can go for extras but it is a lounge area,I didnt go up there this time, you need to pay an extra 150baht to access the lounge upstairs. I found the atmosphere fun.....and Happy and enjoyed myself there, even though you probaly need to spend at some tip money on dancing boys to have more fun. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 400 baht for an off? 150 baht for the boy's drink, which is usually a soft drink? If that's the case, maybe the bar ought to be renamed "Greedy Bar." Happy Bar used to be one of my favorites. At those prices why go there at all? There are one or two other bars in the vicinity. If this guy is going to charge prices like that, he may very well be pricing himself right out of the market. A drink for the boy, your own drink, and the 150 baht fee to go upstairs and you can already kiss at least 700 baht goodbye before you even think about tipping the boy or having a second drink. Those boys would have to be very, very special to get me to pay him those kinds of prices. Quote
bkkguy Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 you can already kiss at least 700 baht goodbye at least the 700 Baht is more into kissing than some of the boys Quote
atri1666 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Nice to hear... so I can save my time. No need to go there in March, wasting time and money. Many times have had good sleazy parties upstairs with enough drinks for all and good tips. But now I hope the owner will soon get taught a good lesson. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 The 150 baht charge for upstairs seating does not sit well with some farangs and could quite possibly be costing the owner money. No one really notices too much if drink prices gets raised by 10 baht but a charge like this is noticeable and makes farangs think twice about going upstairs or entering the bar in the first place. I read somewhere about 500 minimum for an upstairs boy? Quote
Guest paulg Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Just spoken to a mate who is in Pattaya ATM and he gives a different story He had 2 beers bought a boy a drink and was not charged for his trip upstairs, situation unchanged from previous visits which have been weekly for him. He and his boy had a very torrid time upstairs and apparently they now have rooms upstairs, or more privacy than previous. Even so he had boys watching , he wishfully thinking maybe wanting to join in. One did at the end smoking my friend as he smoked his boy He had seen a guy who was there when he arrived, was still on the same drink over 30 minutes later when he went upstairs, feeling the boys with no tip. They did not like it but were told to allow it. I have seen a lot of this over the years, one drink wonders who want to fool around with every boy,pay no tip, buy one drink and complain about everything. In his case he was complaining about the 150b to go upstairs. My friend did not mind as he was not prepared to put on a show for a cheap charlie. About 1200 baht for 2 beers, a boy drink, 500 baht for boy tip upstairs and 200 for the second boy. Great value much better than a coffee or dessert after dinner. Keep complaining guys , he does not want the competition. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I read somewhere about 500 minimum for an upstairs boy? I seem to recall reading that too. I think that was a suggested amount, but in no way a requirement. The problem the boys face is that many customers don't have any idea how much to tip or don't even realize (or care) that a tip is expected. If I take a boy upstairs, I would tip in accordance with short time, what we do and he well he does it. I think from the boy's perspective, being taken upstairs is tantamount to being taken off. He knows you're not taking him up there to ask him about his aunt's recipe for fried rice. However, I don't think you would be stepping out of line if you tip him a bit less than you would if you took him off for short time. Upstairs he doesn't have to change clothes, doesn't have to go anywhere with a total stranger, and doesn't have to pay for a taxi to take him back where he came from. He does his thing with you and bye bye. That takes a lot less time and effort and affords him a better opportunity to get another customer once the present customer leaves. I would think in most cases 500 to 900 baht tips would be plenty, again depending on what you do and how well he performs. Quote

Dont know where you got your figures from. My friend did not mention it was different from other bars. What other bars in the vicinty have an upstairs room for more private hanky panky than in the main bar area. Is it not great value to have sex on the premises at those prices. Compare the off plus boy tip and the extra time to take boy home , even if you do have a car. The drinks remain the same whether you off or go upstairs. Quote

Guest Astrrro Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 It seems like your friend did not get charged the 150 baht fee but another customer did. As far as I'm concerned a bar can charge whatever they want but I just want to know what to expect in advance and with this bar I don't know. Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 no one is complaining. Can we not discuss prices at go go bars, paulg? Just a discussion mate, dont take it personally. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I am not sure what you are on but the 400 off to me means take off premises. Dont know where you got your figures from. I didn't get any figures at all. I haven't even been to that bar since the upstairs fees came into existence. The figures come from the first post on this thread - someone who has been to that bar, and recently. Is there some reason I should have assumed he was lying or was mistaken? And, yes, believe it or not I actually know what the word 'off' means. Isn't that amazing? Do you know any other bars in the Sunee Plaza area that are charging 400 baht for an off? As for what I may or may not be "on," that's really none of your business, is it? Keep complaining guys , he does not want the competition. He doesn't have to worry. If the prices are as Taylorsquare said (and I have heard the same from several others), your friend won't get much of any. Quote
Guest paulg Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 no one is complaining. Can we not discuss prices at go go bars, paulg? Just a discussion mate, dont take it personally I am not taking it personally. I like Happy Boys and get pissed off at those who have not been there lately, who jump on the bandwagon and complain . Please reread the immediate posts before this. I made a point about cheap charlies that sit one beer all night, want to grope every boy that comes past, gets uptight about a charge to go upstairs and screams his tits off on forums about how unfair it is. I can remember on Baht-Stop one member complaining about boys not giving freebees to expats. Compared to taking a boy off and taking him home, Happy Boys is a great alternative. My friend in Pattay sent me a text "going again tonite" Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Compared to taking a boy off and taking him home, Happy Boys is a great alternative. That's where I can agree with you. I have no dispute about taking the boys upstairs and paying 150 baht for the privilege. I think that is a good alternative too and, in many ways, can be even better than taking a boy off. My only dispute is 400 baht for an off and 150 baht for a boy to have a soft drink. If those are the prices actually being charged, then he's way off par with the rest of Sunee Plaza. Now, if your comment about "pissed off at those who have not been there lately, who jump on the bandwagon and complain" is directed at me, since I'm the only one on this thread who clearly stated I haven't been there in a long time, I'll give you three guesses about how much I care about what pisses you off. atri1666 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Just to know the real prices i will go there one time during my stay in march. All my last stays in Pattaya the bar was closed and before there was real heaven for fun. Quote

If those are the prices actually being charged, then he's way off par with the rest of Sunee Plaza. He actually said the off was 400B unless you bought the boy a drink at 150B, in which case the off was 300B. So, a drink and off would be 450B. Compared to the #1 voted 4 years in a row universes most popular pattaya bar which sets the standards for all others......oh my....that's exhausting......Krazy D would be 300B off and 99B drink. That's a 51B difference. Doesn't seem 'way off par' to me. That's only my own unbiased opinion, since I don't patronize either place. Quote

That makes it more palatable. Still, I really don't want to be subjected to a set of rules and regulations for fees. 400 baht except if . . . 150 baht except if . . . and so on. I would much rather it be here's how much a drink costs. Here's the off fee. Here's the going upstairs fee. I don't want to have to take a calculator to a bar to figure out what the evening is going to cost. But that's the way this bar works and I think I understand. Quote
Guest RichLB Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Can anyone who has actually been to Happy Boys explain to me what the deal actually is? The last time I was there was way before all these price changes took effect. At that time, customers were free to go upstairs with or without a boy for no charge. Once there, the upstairs room was aranged into several semi private seating areas, but still within view of others there. If you went up alone, it didn't take long before a guy would join you. If you went up with a guy from downstairs, it also didn't take long before action took place. So, what's the deal now? Can you go upstairs without a boy? Are the "seating areas" more private? Exactly what are the boys prepared to do once they go upstairs with you - jack off only, get sucked, suck, or what? Are you in full view of others who are upstairs? Quote

I went upsatirs with a boy last week... Before we went up he clearly explained that there was a 150B charge (we both had had 1 drink at that stage) When we got upstairs the boy sat me down in a semi private area... 30 seconds another boy shouted "excuse me" and came running up the stairs with the 150B bill for upstairs..he then went back down After that my chosen boy dimmed the lights and some more private action ensued... Action was limited to oral... but I'm pretty sure things could have gone further given the boys expertise! Of course the biggest mistake I made was taking my no.2 choice upstairs... Don't know why I didn't just invite my No.1 choice... guess it was cos he asked me where my BF was!!!! Quote
Guest Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 We could just applaud Happy Boys on their innovative offering. 1 Downstairs, they have a compact gogo which stands comparisons with many other similar sized bars. 2 The usual option of a proper "off" to your hotel exists. 3 Happy boys has a unique (or at least rare) offer of some hanky panky upstairs for half the normal off fee. They have correctly imposed a 150b fee to discourage the tight b*stards who want some action for free. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 In the 4/14 PG Weekly, it says there is no longer a fee to go to the loft level as long as a drink is bought. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 We could just applaud Happy Boys on their innovative offering. I totally agree. I was there a couple of times 10 days or so ago. It was the most fun I have had in a bar in months. The boys were fun, the mamasan was fun, the customers were having fun. I paid Bt. 730 for 5 drinks - 1 for myself and 4 for boys (why Bt. 730, I did not check). I did not go upstairs, nor asked how much it was. On one evening, there was certainly no charge as it was being announced every 10 minutes or so. But that seemed to be a special evening (perhaps for the the reopening) and customers were also offered food. Nor did I off a boy. I did tip my 5 boys Bt. 100 each and the mamasan Bt. 100. Maybe some think Bt. 1,330 is a lot. I thought it was a fabulous bargain for such a great evening. Quote
colmx Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Took a boy upstairs 3 days ago... they were still charging the 150B then... In fact they have the bill/receipt pre-printed so they can stick it on your Bin before you go upstairs! Quote
Guest gorcum Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Happy Boys go go have had some ownership changes. Since April 3 their is a new manager. His name is Wat. I talked to Wat and he told me that the 150 Bath charge still is in effect but sometimes it gets waived. But it is up to him. Also he told me that during the low season Non alcoholic beverages will be 89 Bath and Beer 99 Bath. During Songkran he has around 10 boys and normally around 20. Hope he stays there for a long time Quote
Gaybutton Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 In fact they have the bill/receipt pre-printed so they can stick it on your Bin before you go upstairs! I think the main issue is whether they let their customers know, before they go upstairs, that they are going to be charged the 150 baht fee. I don't have a problem with it if they let you know, but I would be upset if the fee comes as a surprise later. Do they let people know? Also, it used to be that you could go upstairs alone and find boys already up there waiting for customers. Is it still like that or do you need to find a boy you like downstairs first and take him up with you? I'm guessing that whether you go upstairs with a boy or go up by yourself, you get charged the 150 baht fee. Is that correct? Quote
