Gaybutton Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I MUST admit found this link by accident, has anyone stayed here? I don't know anything about it. It's a nice location, but awfully close to all that Thappraya Road construction. If you are considering staying there, I suggest you ask them about their policy about bringing boys to your room. Nothing in their ad indicates whether it is a gay friendly place or not. If this is going to be your first trip to Pattaya, I suggest you stay in established gay accommodations. I suggest you choose The Ambiance, Le Cafe Royale, Howard's, or Two Guys. You can't go wrong with any of those choices and their staff is quite accustomed to dealing with first-timers here. They'll know your questions, problems, and concerns before you even know them and they'll know the best ways to help you have the best possible experience here. While that guest house may turn out to be a wonderful place to stay, I've never heard of it, which means it is not a place popular for gays and may not even be gay friendly. You can always check it out while you're here and stay there next time if it suits your needs, but I would stick to the established gay accommodations if I were you. Also, if you have been a reader on this message board for any length of time, then you probably already know that I am always willing to meet and personally help out first-timers here. If that interests you, then send an Email to me at gaybutton@gmail.com and I'll be happy to help you however I can. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 No GB, I dont think the Jomtiem area has been one of your hot spots, for a guy who does not know the Orchid you sure have a lot to say lol A lot o f Guys Like staying there. some were having problems with emails getting lost, but apart from that I have hard only good reports. Mike who owns it, use to own Memories Music Bar, bought it from Oud. http://www.sawatdee-...t+house#p181347 Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 No GB, I dont think the Jomtiem area has been one of your hot spots, for a guy who does not know the Orchid you sure have a lot to say Like I said, I've never heard of it. If you have, that's wonderful and maybe it is a great place to stay after all. Meanwhile, I would still recommend that someone who has never been to Pattaya before would be far better served staying in the well known, established gay accommodations, close to the major gay venue areas. Do you disagree with that? Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Last year I stayehtd mainly at Howards in Sunee Plaza, was 500 bahtt beds a night at the time. Romms were ok,just bedsitter size, but unfortanteley had problems there with the male cleaner who on two occassions came into the downstairs sitting area and with my bedsheet and proceeded to show me stains and demand 80baht. I didnt tell Punya the owner about this but I told the driver on the way back to the airport who said he would tell him. The ambience hotel is good, also stayed there numerous times, very clean, but small rooms. I did like Two Hands, large room,850 baht a night back then. I will try the ORCHID GUESTHOUSE later when i arrive, and maybe also the Bondi on my 4 week stay. another one which doesnt get a mention is the gay hotel BAN DAAK MOOK Quote

Ok, I thought your upcoming trip was going to be your first time in Pattaya. Since you are already familiar with Pattaya, then please let us know what you think of the Orchid Guesthouse once you stay there. Apparently, according to HeyGay's post, it is gay friendly, so I see no reason for you not to give it a try. Quote
Rogie Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I will try the ORCHID GUESTHOUSE later when i arrive, and maybe also the Bondi on my 4 week stay. another one which doesnt get a mention is the gay hotel BAN DAAK MOOK I haven't stayed here but did get shown round about a year ago by a pleasant Thai guy who may have been the owner's bf. Rooms looked fine but it was fully booked. Orchid was fully booked again when I enquired on my last visit in November, but that was my fault as I wasn't able to commit myself to dates until the last minute. So best to book well in advance I would imagine, especially in high season. Maybe if you've stayed in Pattaya at a few places, and assuming you haven't stayed in Jontien, why not try it? Last time I fancied a change so stayed in Jomtien at the DD Inn, 500 baht a night. Beach within spitting distance and the nearest gay bar, the Bamboo, just across the way. Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 dd inn sounds ok,is that at the back of bamboo? Im actually getting a bit sick of small pokey rooms,im thinking of mosaik again for my month stay, but a little expensive. i would like a dvd player, but then again i will take my laptop so can ouplay DVDS on that. i need a dvd player so the guys can watch something. How many of you like big rooms to entertain your guests?or do you just prefer a normal room. Before rooms were only for one thing for me,as long as the toilet and shower were clean ,it didnt matter about room size, now as i get older,i prefer maybe a kitchen, sometimes thai boys like to have a party in your room. its hard to have parties in a small room. Well just an update, enquired at MOSAIK APARTMENTS-ALL FULL. VIEW TALAY 1/2=FULL Well,i like two faces, now min 950b per night,no internet access,no dvd. Must be very busy in pattaya right now for all these places to be full.? Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 i prefer maybe a kitchen, sometimes thai boys like to have a party in your room. its hard to have parties in a small room. If that is your preference, then why look for a hotel or guesthouse at all? It sounds like renting a condo would better suit your needs. As for a DVD player, you can buy them used, very inexpensively, at local pawn shops. Then, when you are ready to leave, you can give it to your favorite boy as a gift. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 MOSAIK APARTMENTS-ALL FULL. I suppose that Mosaik must be doing something right if they're all full but I've looked at Mosaik rooms a number of times and think other options are more cost effective such as VCC Condo or Yensabai Condo at 12K a month. Mosaik's website is misleading given one the impression that there are just a few roomtypes while there are probably 10 different room types some in their annex with steep stairs and no lift. Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Yes ,i think this time i will do the "roam" around for my 4 week stay. It will cost a bit more, but i wont get bored with the rooms. Probaly stay sunee a few days, then jomtiem, then boyztown, then day night etc. The downside is lugging a suitcase and packing up my toothpaste etc when moving, but this time i have decided to bring less. i use to bring 10 tubes of toothpaste,10 bottles of mouthwash, shampoos, around 20 packets of soap, around a dozen bottles of aftershave/deoderant when i came to Thailand. I might just bring one of each now and buy the rest as i need it,this will cut the lifting down. There are a few things i will bring such as condoms, and i might even do my own washing this time as sometimes i was paying far more for clothes washing in pattaya than i do in my own city.rently. I have never been in high season before,so i know it maybe a challenge to get boys,it seems it is for hotel rooms. However this time i may use gayromeo . I will try to review a few places i stay at,within reason of course. I plan to check out baan dok mai guesthouse in day night, they currently want 1050b per night, has anyone been there? Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 baan dok mai guesthouse in day night I'll take a look in a few days and report back. Pet peeve of mine is websites such as Flower House that portray Pattaya beaches like this: Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 i use to bring 10 tubes of toothpaste,10 bottles of mouthwash, shampoos, around 20 packets of soap, around a dozen bottles of aftershave/deoderant when i came to Thailand. For four weeks? Come on!! You'd need to be here for a year or more to go through that little lot. Mind you, I often take too much luggage on my trips and am regularly asked if I have packed the kitchen sink. i need a dvd player so the guys can watch something. What do they watch? Porn? I find my guys all want to watch local Thai TV. Quote
atri1666 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Mosaik's website is misleading given one the impression that there are just a few roomtypes while there are probably 10 different room types some in their annex with steep stairs and no lift. The lady told me they have 8 roomtypes and only 2 are in the annex. The homepage shows clearly all 8 types. In march first time will stay in their prestige studio (for 2 weeks ok).First wanted to stay in bangkok but around 100000 baht for my hotel or 13000 baht in pattaya was an easy decision. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Just looked at their website and it is all laid out clearly. My recollection was different. Perhaps the website was recently redesigned or perhaps I'm just getting old. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 The best Thing about staying in a smaller Gay Guest House in Pattaya is if you have not been here before you get so much friendship and if your a man on your own for the first time its so easy to make new friends. RATHER THAN HAVE A bIG hOTEL HERE, YOUR JUST A CUSTOMER ON YOUR OWN AND ITS ALL IN YOUR FACE, NICE TO GET AWAY FROM THE GAY SCENE AND NICE TO HAVE ALL THE BEST PLACES POINTED OUT TO YOU, BY ALL YOUR NEW FRIENDS YOU MAKE IN A SMALL gUEST HOUSE TRY 2 GUYS YOUR SEE WHAT i MEAN. YOU CAN MEET NEW FRIENDS FOR LIFE. Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 baan dok mai guesthouse in day night I'll take a look in a few days and report back. Astrrro,Did you stay at Baan Dok Mai? I have to move hotels soon as they are booked out and looking for somewhere. Quote
