I have been trying to access the Sawatdee Gay Thailand web site all day but get the message "The requested URL /forum/gay-thailand/ was not found on this server"

Is anyone else having the same problem or is it only me?

ElephantSpike has apparently been doing some much-needed updating on Sawatdee. The Board is a software-based ppHB system ... a very good product when all goes well, but also quite complicated when things go to hell in the night. Even right now (11:35AM Thailand time), although the Board is up and running fine, a few of the less important items are still not exactly right ... for instance, some of the avatar images are not showing, and some of the posted images also do not come up.

The problems started when some posters complained that the Search Engine was not working properly. When ElephantSpike started trying to fix that ... other things started to get complicated!

Luckily, ElephantSpike has ~ over the years ~ gotten pretty knowledgeable with the intricacies of the ppHB system and I'm sure all will be well in the next day or so. As I write now, posting and replying (i.e. the main Big Boys) both are running well.

try this link - been working all day here.

Might need to alter your bookmarks.

Thanks for the advice Oogleman. I used your link to get to sawatdee-gay-thailand website and then changed my bookmark.

I get to the site every time now but, like Smiles, some of the pictures are still not showing up.

Still no luck opening the site in Bangkok.

I can't imagine that it is being blocked in Bangkok, but not in Pattaya. Try it with a proxy server. If nothing else works, that ought to do it.

For me, it works just fine and I'm not having any of the problems Smiles described. Everything loads up for me.

If you have not already done so, perhaps you ought to send an Email to ElephantSpike and let him know, specifically, what kinds of problems you are encountering.

Also in Bangkok with True broadband, it doesn't work for me. Google Chrome says the link appears broken and IE8 says page cannot be found.

I can't imagine why the browser would have anything to do with it, but I use Firefox and I have had none of the problems being described on this thread, including just now. This very moment I tried it and it loaded right up flawlessly.

The only thing that makes any sense to me is somehow your location and the routing to get to Sawatdee has something to do with it or perhaps your ISP blocked the site for some reason.

Welcome to the latest entry on my "I Don't Get It" list . . .

Does not work on Firefox or Safari. Strange!

When in Pattya, I could not access many different sites. Sawatdee was OK every time, but Ting Tong was not accessible. Managed to get it at a coffee shop.

I can't make sense of it. I'm in Pattaya and I never have any problem accessing any of these sites unless the site itself has gone down. How come I can access these sites, but others are having so much trouble?

SGT was down in USA for a while as well. Smiles explained it very well in that Spike had done some changes and that caused issues with the site. I know first had how easy this is to do. Everyone that runs a site and deals with software from 3rd parties can understand this.

As far as some in Pattaya seeing things and others not, it is easy. The providers sometimes caches pages and sites and when issues occur it lasts longer on one provider than another one.

When I was in Thailand once I had a 2 months stay booked the the Intercontinental in Bangkok. When I arrived I was not able to access any gay sites. All the gay Thailand sites were not viewable. Not just one Gay Thailand website but ALL Gay Thailand sites and forums. I asked about this and they explained that the government had blocked the sites. I want to the Four Seasons and theirs were not blocked. I told the management I'd be moving hotels. Less than an hour later, all those blocked sites were back on their servers. It was that fast.

I have never seen the issues in the USA like in Thailand. It is a jumbled mess and when sites are accessible in one place and not in another tells you some enforce the rules and some don't. It seems to have been more laxed over the years. But, like all things I am sure the issues will return.

tried the proxy server and get a message saying I have been permanently blocked from the board

I don't know what to tell you or anyone else having problems. I am still able to connect without any trouble and I don't think it has anything to do with a stored cache because new messages show for me as well.

The best I can tell you is anyone who really wants to access that board is welcome to come on over to my place and use my computer . . .

I guess there must be some irony in the fact that many of you want to access the Sawatdee board and cannot. Meanwhile, I am neither a member nor do I post on that board. I seem to be the only one here who is not having problems accessing the Sawatdee board and I'm probably the only one who couldn't care less and rarely reads that board in the first place.

if you use true, depending on the service package you have and the cache server you happen to get connected thru, this has been a problem for a while, either "Not Found" or the redirect to the leaf picture at a government web site

the problem appears to be a badly implemented (or incompletely removed) block of the site that only seems to affect some true cache servers - use a vpn or proxy to get around it, it is pointless calling the true "help desk" (an oxymoron at the best of times) and trying to get them to do something about it!

Thanks - this may well be the reason. I don't subscribe to True, but I believe the provider I use does use its signal.
