Guest buckeroo2 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I noticed that when I passed Cat's Place the last 2 nights it was closed. Cat's Place is a small go-go bar on the soi connecting the 2 larger Day-Night sois - right around the corner from Office Boys. I asked around and was told by a source that I do not know to be reliable - that the cashier absconded with the till and the owner closed the bar. I do not know if this story is true but the bar has been dark the last 2 nights. That story does not sound plausible so I thought I would ask if anyone else heard anything. Quote
gerefan Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 That story does not sound plausible Sounds eminently plausable to me ! G Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 The owner is an extremely nice guy. But the bar can't seem to make it as either a ladyboy bar or boy bar. If you're in an obscure location like Soi Day/Night you need to promote a bar on the Forums which only takes about an hour a week. But he never did maybe he doesn't like to write in English. His latest idea was "string dancing", suspenders holding up a micro bikini, an interesting idea, but his promotion only consisted of a sign outside the bar as far as I know. When it was a ladyboy bar some of us would help him out by conntributing to a thread about the bar, but newbies to Pattaya are loathe to go off the beaten track. Hope the rumor of the cashier obsconding with the till is unfounded. Quote
Guest buckeroo2 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 It has been about 10-12 days since I first noticed that Cat's was closed. It remains closed and there are no signs posted outside advising as to the status of the bar. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 LMTU with his talent in creating an enormous interest in any gay business, can't breath life into a Gay Bar, Restaurant, Cafe or Go Go, if when you get there, you have either ugly Boys or Bad food, as with the Cafe Bar next door Niddys Nook, and all the thousands of posts he generated about that, they still served inedible hamburgers. In the end Even Monty made a better more tasty ones home made ones, before he sold up and moved to Jomtiem Complex and was selling so many he could not cope. Its a wonder to me Two Guys don't sell them. At least with the VENUE and Bann Dok Guest House and many others once the customer goes once, you never hardly need to Publicize it again, once you have got them coming with good Publicity, the publicist is only and good as the quality of the goods that's on offer. Gaybutton Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 LMTU with his talent in creating an enormous interest in any gay business Maybe LMTU, with all that talent, can stick to the subject and find out for us and let us know the status of Cat's Place, and whether it is closed only temporarily or has gone completely out of business. I fail to see what the hamburgers at Niddy's Nook or Monty's has to do with Cat's Place closing up, but I guess I just don't see things the same way some people do. Meanwhile, giving credit where it's due, LMTU does manage to come up with good bar information. Maybe he can come through with information about Cat's Place too. If you had never been there, their web site is still online, with plenty of photos: http://phuleamkham.blogspot.com Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 GB the reason for giving you and the interested readers this Information is, the reason why so many Gay Businesses close, as they do not give the customer what they want. simple. And that will be the answer you will get, when you find out the owner has not got any more patients to pay the rent and the out going with no profits. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 And that will be the answer you will get, when you find out the owner has not got any more patients to pay the rent and the out going with no profits. Come on, HeyGay. That doesn't tell us much of anything. The question is whether they are closed temporarily of permanently. If you know, please tell us. If you don't know, but can find out, please tel us once you do know. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Sorry did I not make my self clear as discreetly as possible, it is closed as it is now, permanently, for the reasons given above and others, I've been ask not to mention, may be in the future it will rise again like the Phoenix of a Bar it is. Gaybutton Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 it is closed as it is now, permanently Thank you. That's the important thing to know. The reasons are kind of a moot point now. If it does reopen at some point, let us know. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 This evening I passed by Cat's Place. It is still closed, but I noticed that the doors were chained and padlocked. Usually that's what the police do when they're the ones who close a venue. Maybe that's why the bar closed and maybe that means that they'll reopen as soon as they can come out of the penalty box. Guest HeyGay Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Dont hold your breath GB did you see the legal yellow letter on the door for 30 dyas or 60 I dont think so. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Dont hold your breath GB did you see the legal yellow letter on the door for 30 dyas or 60 I dont think so. I don't know. It was already night and I passed by rather quickly in a car. If a notice is on the door, I didn't see it. I take it, from your post, there is no notice. Quote

The padlock has been on the front door for some time but there is no notice posted. One night last week I walked by and the farang owner was sitting outside on the balcony having a drink with a Thai guy. The sliding front door was a bit ajar and a Thai lady was inside the dimly lit entrance - it looked like she was cleaning/scrubbing the floor.. So it appears the closure is by choice of the owner and not a legal problem. Quote
