Goober Posted April 9 Posted April 9 LCR is the perfect club for gay MAGAt losers in life to congregate, validate and commiserate with each other. Here's some links about the former president of Broward LCR; a real gem. This doesn't include his latest Gofundme pages where he's awaiting his subsidized housing due to his diagnosis of being an alcoholic, or his multiple lawsuits where he's the defendant for non-payment of rent on a bed at a boarding house. If you think this Brett guy is pitiful, the current president is worse. I assume this is a countrywide norm for LCR. https://www.gayly.com/south-florida-log-cabin-republicans-rail-against-muslims-socialism https://truthaboutandrewbrett.com/ Bingo T Dog 1 Quote

They try to present themselves as successful gays, and a few are, but the rank and file seem to be like ships adrift at sea looking for someone to blame for their poor lot in life, which explains why they've been drawn to MAGA. It's kind of sad and pathetic to see these misfits desperately seeking validation and acceptance within MAGA, the same cult that willingly accepts and encourages anti-gay white supremacy groups and evangelicals (I suppose one could argue that MAGA is an inclusive cult lol). Try as they might, LCR simply isn't relevant. Marc in Calif 1 Quote

In 1980, they had reasons for optimism. Despite Reagan’s conservative bona fides, two years earlier he helped defeat a California referendum that would have barred gay people from teaching in public schools. But as president, his embrace of the religious right was so close, and his administration’s antipathy for people with AIDS so pronounced, that it further stained the Republican Party’s reputation with gay people. George H.W. Bush ran as a moderate and even signed gay-friendly legislation like the Ryan White Care Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act before abandoning tolerance to court the religious right. Less than a decade after he left office, his son campaigned as a compassionate conservative, and then ran for reelection supporting a constitutional amendment to forbid same-sex marriage. Donald Trump also seemed to embrace LGBTQ people as he campaigned for the 2016 election, but as president he nominated judges hostile to LGBTQ rights and supported policies that made it easier for people claiming religious exemptions to discriminate against sexual minorities. I'm guessing Donald also made a tidy sum renting out the space and feeding them. Not that there's anything wrong with that. No doubt they brought in a lot more than that from members who wanted to hear what was on the former First Lady's mind. Personally, I've never heard her say anything that I'd pay to hear. I could see forking over a couple grand to go hear Dolley Madison speak but, when it comes to the Trumps, I'm more of a 'silence-is-golden' kind of guy. Bingo T Dog and stevenkesslar 2 Quote

EmmetK has quarantined himself in his basement, and is huddled in a fetal position over the windfall success of Harris/Walz. I got the sense they were made up of rich, white and prejudiced men. That's the word we used back then. Why is this Log Cabin group still around? It's pretty clear by now a lot of Republicans suck dick and love Trump. Is it more of a social group? Is that what it always was? A way to meet other rich, conservative, prejudiced queens? Do they have any token members that aren't white men? Perhaps they've evolved a bit. stevenkesslar 1 Quote

Members lookin Posted September 2 Members Posted September 2 Personally, I've never cosied up to a Log Cabin Republican, but if someone is gay and also buys into a politically conservative worldview I imagine it's good to have a group who shares the same views. I wouldn't make it illegal, that's for sure, and I'd do my best not to be judgmental unless I felt that I was being judged for being a gay liberal. I might think they're naive or perhaps misinformed in some ways, but I expect they'd think the same of me. So I'd willingly enter into a debate and see where we come out. But, just like the mainstream Republican party has been infested by the Trump lunacy, the Log Cabin Republicans probably have too. And I doubt it's easy. To be a Mar-a-Lago Cabin Republican, I'd have to be attracted to guys, long for life pre-Stonewall, and pretend that Donald Trump should be America's boss and the leader of the free world. It would be a heavy lift. I think the hardest part would be finding some orange lip gloss so I didn't leave any prints on his ass. 💋 stevenkesslar 1 Quote
