Guest Simon208 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Hi I need some travel advice. I am ue to arrive in Bangkok next week on an evening flight from London. I have been checking out some websites but have had no luck. What I need to know is this. 1. What other airlines fly from Bangkok to Phnom Penh apart from Air Asia? 2. What are the visa regulations like for a short visit? 3. Has anyone stayed in Quays Hotel in Phnom Penh? also hope to visit Kho Samui 4. Do Air Asia no longer frly there from Bangkok, any other airlines? 5. Any decent hotels close to Chaweng beach area but not in it with a sea view I would be grateful for any advice given. thanks Simon Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Phnom Penh I can only answer some of your questions. Both THAI and Bangkok Airways fly between Bangkok and Phnom Penh. Both will be more expensive than Thai Air Asia. For most visitors from the west, you can get a visa on arrival. In August a 30-day non-renewable tourist visa was US$20, but check with the local Cambodian Embassy (or another poster will be more specific). Note you also need a passport-sized photo. In fact, I find it useful always to have a few passport photos with me whenever I travel in Asia - just in case I want to make some last-minute diversions. Koh Samui As far as I am aware, Thai Air Asia has never flown to Koh Samui. It is largely a monopoly for Bangkok Airways, although THAI has recently started two daily flights. Flights are therefore expensive. One alternative which a lot of people take is to fly on Thai Air Asia to Surat Thani on the mainland, and then a bus and a ferry from there. I've no idea how long the journey lasts, but I think not very long. Quote
Guest Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 The Cambodia e-visa is quite easy, as long as you have access to a printer. Apply on line, it's e-mailed to you next day (in my experience). Print out & bring with passport. e visa Quote
