Guest RichLB Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I've been reading the thread GB started about LK restaurant and having now been there twice I agree the place is a great find. I wonder how many others here have made similar discoveries. Let's start a whole new thread where we can find these hidden (and sometimes not so hidden) gems. Quote
Guest RichLB Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Let me start this off by suggesting Natans on Thapyra almost across the street from jomtien Complex. It's a tiny place, and decorated with a relaxed ambiance. But, the most important thing is the food. I loved it. I confess I have not eaten anything there other than Satin Bocca because it was so good I didn't want to pass it up when visiting there. Friends have ordered the duck and the chicken, though, and rave about those dishes, too. Natans bills itself as a Thai-French restaurant (although I didn't see anything particularly French about their offerings). They hae a unique menu which includes two pages of tapas (vaious appetizers which are all generous in portion and the ones I've sampled are great). The price range is in the 250-350 baht range and well worth the money. I urge you to give it a try. By the way, the service is the best I've run into in Pattaya! Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 RICHLB, I saw natans on my last visit. Another place and i forget the name is in the Jomtiem complex, down the end,i cant remember the name, they all wear orange shirts, cheap thai food. My favourite place is i think they call it Salt and Pepper in Day night, although it may not be correct as i saw another Salt and Pepper in Day night. I really like a bit of German Sausage every now and again, not sure if anyone else likes to taste a German Sausage ,but the best i tasted was only available and hanging out was on a Thursday and Sunday,in a German bar in Jomtiem Complex opposite Question Mark bar. One of the worse places i had food was at a Thai restaurant in Sunee Plaza near the two internet cafes in the main drag. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 A bit of German sausage now and then can be quite good. Quote
Guest RichLB Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Okay, this one isn't new, but to infrequent visitors to Jomtien Complex it might be. I recommend the Aquarius Restaurant located next to Monty's. Their weekly specials are more than affordable for what you get (around 300 baht) and come with an appetizer (a shrimp and sliced avacado salad), the main course (the Friday night lamb special can't be beat), and desert. There is inside dining with air conditioning (often too cold) and outside dining for those of us who smoke. Ambiance, service and food are all top quality so if you haven't tried it, give it a go. Guest taylorsquare Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I did try AQUARIUS,quite good, incidentally one of their waiters was trained in Melbourne,in Australia. The food portions however are not that big ,so whether value for money is there for everyone,im not sure. Another in the Jomtiem Complex is PAGODA,opposite the Thai Blind massage Institute, nice place with a lot of plants out the front, anyone been there? It seems a high class type of place. Quote

La Dolce Vita Bar...Jomtien Complex...down from Monty's. Only served on Thursday and Sunday nights... from 6pm to sell out... usually has 5 Swiss/German dishes on limited menu... from 100 baht for soup...huge bowl and sells out quickly! to under 200 baht for other 4 entrees... Very tasty... BUT get there early if you want soup! tj Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 La Plancha Last night four of us (2+2) went to a Basque restaurant named La Plancha on Soi Chaiyapoon between 3rd Road and Soi Buakoaw. So Chaiyapoon is the first soi south of Z-Zyte Disco on 3rd Rd. It is a small immaculately clean, simply decorated place. The owner greeted us when we went in. We shared two orders of the stuffed squid and two orders of the mixed paella, which is cooked to order, so it takes about 30 minutes. It had pieces of chicken, clams, mussels, chorizo and prawns. I have had stuffed squid and paella before and this was as good or better than any I have tasted. We couldn't finish all of the paella. The total bill including 4 bottles of water was 1120 baht, not including tip. We all agreed would go back. Quote
