Guest GaySacGuy Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Have been using USTVnow for about three weeks, and find it pretty good...but still not great. Quote
TotallyOz Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 I was in BestBuy in the USA today and I noticed a counter for the Slingbox. Apparently, this is still very popular. This thread is a few years old and I wonder if others are still using Nation TV or Slingbox to get American TV in Thailand. If so, what are your results? Quote
TotallyOz Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 For several months I have been using USTVNow.com and I love it. It lets me record shows and view them later. I can see the evening news each night and Ellen every day and any other show I desire in the USA. I don't need it for the shows that are always on torrents but for the other stuff it is great and it is 29.00 per month for 3 months. They will also let you test it. I purchased a Roku and have it set up to play on my TV. It also plays live TV. 5 stars in my book. http://www.ustvnow.com/ Quote
TotallyOz Posted April 26, 2015 Author Posted April 26, 2015 I just go to my computer and open up the site and there is a button called Record there. I record them and when I open my Roku, I just watch the. But, I think I can record from it as well. I can watch live TV on either. This is good if there is something I like to watch that I know will not be shown on the torrents. I love Sunday AM news shows and one of the big things I miss being overseas a lot. I now just record them all. It does record commercials but that is OK for me as I can fast forward them if recorded. Quote
Guest Promsak Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 This thread is very U.S. angled but there are also opportunities for U.K. expats. One that I tried recently on a two day free Songkran trial was of 'Thai Expat TV' https://www.thaiexpat.tv/ They have two services --- one a software player, so you install it on your PC and watch on your PC or connect via an HDMI cable to your TV. Alternatively, there is a set top box that works via LAN cable or your WiFi and plugs into the TV and has a remote control. (There is also a third alternative for smart devices but I didn't look into that). You can watch live TV on all the popular U.K. channels or go back anytime time in the last 7 days. It isn't cheap at 600 Baht per month for the software version. Why not contact them to ask for a free trial --- nothing to lose. I have to say that the quality was excellent with my TRUE 599 Baht broadband package (whatever speed that is) with no buffering during those 2 days. I also sometimes watch live U.K. TV on my Android phone via the app ' Film On TV Live'. Dozens of UK and other channels. Quality looks very good but after all it is only a 5" screen. The SD is free but the HD version is premium. Again, I've only tried in my condo via my own TRUE WiFi.* *As an edit, I've just remembered that I showed it off at Balcony Pub with their WiFi once.
