TotallyOz Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 From http://www.thailandvisa.com We are a new site. We are looking to encourage posting in the forum. We are advertising on several other web sites currently and will expand this in the near future. In order to get more posting, we are having a contest for to get a free trip to Thailand. The prize:: A round-trip ticket from your city to Thailand anytime during 2010. We will book this for you for up to 1500 USD. Plus, we will book for you 8 nights accommodations up to 125.00 per night. The way to enter: Make at least 500 posts over the competition period (September 15, 2009 through Feb. 28th 2010). Guest Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 That excludes those of us who live in Thailand. I doubt it. Ask the question there and get the right answer. Quote

dapitt Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Sounds like a contest that was run on this board a while back. Color me "mmmmmmm", also. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I'm not sure why sites link up, but surely a competition of this nature is going to draw posters away from this Board. We've noticed over the last few months that the number of posts from quite a few of those who posted regularly during the competition on this Board last year has dropped off very considerably. Quote
dapitt Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I'm not sure why sites link up,... Oh, I dunno either....maybe because the same guy owns both?.....maybe? Quote
Guest Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I'm not sure why sites link up, but surely a competition of this nature is going to draw posters away from this Board. We've noticed over the last few months that the number of posts from quite a few of those who posted regularly during the competition on this Board last year has dropped off very considerably. I have links on this site to all the other gay Thailand related sites. I also have had links to all the news groups and other sites of interest to Thailand. I wanted to get rid of the porn banners and had an opportunity to do that and I took it. It is better for me in the long run and I think makes the site look cleaner and better. IMHO. Hopefully, people won't abandon us here and go there but hopefully some will post on both. Don't worry about their contest. We'll have another one as well. Nothing wrong with people trying to get traffic and build communities. Oh, I dunno either....maybe because the same guy owns both?.....maybe? The same guy does not own both. But, I can say that the owner of this one and the other one are friends. I can also say that I helped in the build of the site and getting it ready and recommended ways to generate traffic to the site. I see no site as competition. I think the more sites about Thailand the better. I have never felt ill will toward any new site and am always willing to interact and participate. I have posted links for other sites that many feel are "competing sites." I also participate in other forums on gay boards in Thailand. I have never looked at this as a "real" business as it is more a journey of love than money. If I were in this site to make money, I would have abandoned ship long ago. Yes, I know the owner of the other site. Yes, I post there. Yes, I know the owner of other websites about Thailand and yes I post there as well. I will continue to do so. And, when asked for advice from anyone about a website, I offer the advice freely. Last year I helped someone I met in Pattaya open up a forum about ladyboys. I would never turn down assistance for someone to start a web business. I enjoy it and I enjoy the conversations about it. If anyone on this board wants to open a site, buy me dinner and pick my brain. While there is not much to pick, I'll share as much as possible with you as I know. There are no real secrets to success for any site. But, if you want, I'll share what I know. And, if you are consistent on your site I'll post. I enjoy posting on several sites now and the ThailandVisa site is not going to be an exception. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 What if we live in thailand, cant you sponcer us to go to CUBA to report back, so many guys I know from the States are going to live there, if the restrictions are lifted, but go now, before that happens, CUBA is an amazing walk in the 50s with all the old cars and way of life, who wants Mc Donadls and KFC on every corner, the very worst of America ruining the CUBAN Landscape. I love to go there with Vigin Atlantic if I win . But don't stay in a Hotel, I rent a Casa Particular Private Condo, as its much more conveniet for joiners, with out any hassles.google them if you go to Havana, your be glad you did even though the food is not up to much . My statements, to which you've replied, were not ones of disapproval. I merely pointed out that a contest of quite similar design had been run here, and deduced that there might well be a connection between the two sites...a fact now confirmed by you. Mine were merely statements of observation. Quote
