Guest taylorsquare Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I wonder how many of you are still going to see the magnificent show at the hotel in jomtiem complex,i went everynight last month when i was in pattaya. Being honest with you,i preferred the farang singer,i think his name is Ray,i really enjoyed his happy performances, shore seeing it night after night can be monotonous but they were pulling in the crowds night after night, but i wondered for how long. Lets face if you seen the show once, most dont want to keep seeing it,but i enjoyed it. Another bar was opening up as i was there, called GANYMEDE,near the thai blind massage,im pretty sure the owner actually owns the building so it will still be there, however i doubt it will do a roaring trade, however i found it pleasant enough. Guest Oogleman Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I enjoyed both on my last trip and will back to see both in a few weeks. Fancy a trip GB? Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Yes I hear the show at the VENUE PUB, is getting better, in leaps and Bounds, Its doing very well with customers and the fun feel about those running it is very hypnitic, its getting better every week my spies tell me. sort of a Gentlemans club, where you meet new and old mates and can have a chat with a party every night. Guest zzrichard Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I haven't been there. Can you give us some details about the bar? Ganymede is located directly accross the soi from the old Hot Stone Grill. It is an "open style" bar (I guess I could say Beer Bar, but they do serve spirits as well). The Thai guys are friendly but not at all pushy and you can actually taste the whiskey in the served drinks. I was there a few days ago and Barcardi and Coke was 100 baht but they also have specials on the non-call drinks. I met the owner and I believe he was British and a very pleasant host. NO LOUD MUSIC the two times I was there and my boyfriend and I had no problem talking. Quote
Guest Patexpat Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I was at The Venue last night - packed! Apparently they have 3 different shows each with 3 segments, which they rotate so that regulars won't get bored. Personally I love the bit where the waiters get up on stage and do one of their dances, very funny and enjoyable! Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." - E. Cameron (1940) Never having heard of E. Cameron and almost sure that the phrase was in use prior to 1940, I did a little checking. It's almost impossible to find the first use of that quote. A shortened form "Imitation is the sincerest flattery" is attributed to Charles Caleb Colton, an English sportsman who lived from 1780 to 1832. On google and yahoo, I cannot find the derivation of the extended "form of" quote, although it is the one most often used. At one stage, it seemed that your E. Cameron might be the co-author of "Community Ecology of a Coral Cay: A Study of One-Tree Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia (Monographiae Biologicae)". But that just did not sound right. I eventually discovered that he was a American writer who used it in a tome titled "Malice" published in 1940. That is the first time it seems to have been used in the USA. There are many references to its use on the net, one of the most amusing being an imaginary interview with Coco Chanel which appeared in London's Telegraph last month. Interviewer: "But surely it was you who said 'Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery'." Chanel: "I didn Quote

Guest Astrrro Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I hang out with lots of guys that like ladboys and strangely enough many ladyboy-lovers don't like ladyboy shows. Feathery costumes don't do much for them. I prefer great lip synching with the appropriate gestures for the song as was perfected by a former Sunee superstar with no costume needed. As far as the Jomtien show, I haven't seen it, so cannot comment on the quality. There is one song that when done well is tailor made for a ladyboy show. One Man Woman; Two Timing Man Quote

Out of good taste we chose not to mention the Showbars in question, please be assured that Boyz is not one of them. The Management of "The Venue" and "Boyz" have been close friends and associates for almost 20 years. As there are 4 Male artists for every LadyBoy in "The Venue" Cabaret, I don't think you could call it a "LadyBoy" Show.. Probably the best Lip-Syncer is actually a handsome guy called Tommy. Its the amazing energetic dancing and outstanding costumes that makes 'The Venue" Show so distinctive. Shame that other places cannot be as creative, they believe its easier to replicate than to originate. Thats why copies are often third rate when compared with the real McCoy. http://www.thevenuejomtien.com Quote

Has any one been to all the gay shows in Pattaya lately, to let us know, what you think or should we have a vote on it? click below and see the Show they are all talking about . http://www.copapatta...om/cabaret.html Quote
Guest TheVenue Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 e New Kid on the Block. Congratulations " Copa - New Kid" on your First Anniversary... I would not call members of Management who have been in The Gay and Straight market in Pattaya since 1974 a " Venue-New Kid" Certain "Venue" Management have been in Tourism and ShowBiz since 1961. Also we are referring to more than one location that are replicating, routines, choreography and costumes. http://www.thevenuejomtien.com Quote

With respect, As far as the VENUE BAR is concerned I would have thought you would be happy to have a lot of customers in this low season, I cant see what you gain in publicity by saying your the best Show in town, when you have only just opened, you could say you have been in Tourism since 1020 BC it does not mean your going to be a big hit in Pattaya, with all the fickle people they have coming here, who can turn on a sixpence, if you upset them. Look what happened to The Old ICON just a few people started to pull it down and complain about the singer, then the dancers were not as good as the previous hunks, then the music to loud after the show, then one guy had a break up, with one of the farangs running the show, and he started to write negative articles in various names about the ICON and many other Gay Businesses, then it closed because of lack of interest. So as I say its nothing like running a Hotel in Blackpool, it has completely different problems, from Bucket and spade Holiday makers, and its a learning curve, even though I do agree your costumes are a sensation and the management do give there all, the prices are great at from 99 baht a drink and the atmosphere of the VENUE SHOW BAR is great fun, with tongue up cheek humor, but even so, no one can be so sure of themselves, to make the claim, your just the best show in town, surly, its up to the customers to go to all the shows and declare that. CAN THEY ? Quote

Guest RichLB Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I'm one of those that really can't stand caberet shows - I even had to battle sleep at Tiffany's when some out of town guests insisted on going. Several months ago I got dragged into The Venue and was really shocked. I loved the show, the atmosphere created by the MC, the efficient and non-pushy waiters, the fast pace, the energy, and the whole shebang. What I especially liked was the concept of having 3 segments (actually 3 mini shows separated by a 15 minute or so break). I didn't feel trapped and unable to leave if I elected to do so as I have felt when other bars spring an unanticipated show on me. It gave our table time to not only enjoy the show, but each other, as well. I've been back now several times and have always enjoyed myself. I can understand the pique of the show creators if they are being copied, but the Venue offers far more than just the show and that can't be copied. Add my applause to those that love the place. As it would seem.

But if you think you just don’t like feathers and frocks, may be there is one hunk in the audience or may be in the show you like, Ill let you know when I go soon. Just a couple of suggestions: (1) Opinions are fine; however, suggesting the entire world is waiting with bated breath for the super reporter to give us the real truth just might be a bit of wishful thinking. If you're not LMTU, you're a clone. (2) A little editing and use of recognizable English characters might help. Sorry for the interruption, carry on. Quote

Guest HeyGay Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Wow this is a first as I have never much agreed with you before paulg and I actually know who you are, so I can say this is a very fair one mans few of how he sees the VENUE SHOW BOR, why you don’t think it should be called a Show Bar I don’t know as you have just complained its to much show and not enough Bar, and its a Bar that has constant shows and as you say very little in-between. Even though I think your leaving some things out, as many people who are regulars visit this Bar and use it as there local, so there must be a lot more to the place, than just shows and as for the Manager sinning, well I think he is the one who would keep the two Thai and Gay Interest together, even though he is no Flank Sinatra, I know he does have his moments of singing the high notes and is use to getting his legs in the air. Very good assessment of the Bar 'paulg' keep up the good work and less of the insults and I could get to like you again lol Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Actually i enjoyed "Ray" the farang singer more than the Thai performers/ He actually has a great smile. I was very surprised to see the solidly built farang guy who sits at the sound DJ desk is married to a Thai lady. Quote
