Guest GaySacGuy Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Thai air is going to operate it's BKK-LAX daily starting in December. This will put this flight back where it was before all the economic/political battles began. Wish they would bring the price down a little, as United beats them by several hundred dollars. Guest Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 This is good news. Now, how can we talk them into the JFK to BKK nonstop? Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 how can we talk them into the JFK to BKK nonstop? From what I understand, it was the soaring oil price that killed the JFK route more than the impending recession. With Asia now pulling out of recession, maybe the economics of the route might be more attractive. However, the A340-500 aircraft seems unsuited to the route because it's basically too small and needs a consistently high load factor. TG tried to offload them, but no-one wants them. So the frequency of the LAX and Oslo routes will soon be increased so that all four aircraft can be better utilized. Also, I read in the papers today that some of the front-end business and premium economy seats will be pulled out in favour of more in economy. That would seem to kill any hope of TG reopening JFK/BKK. Quote
