Guest Lapos Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Here is the latest update on Mick's condition and situation, received 03/09/09 at 10.15 a.m. Dear Friends, The past few days have been very hectic with regards to Mick. We are forwarding the past few e-mails we received so that you can see the status. We expect that there will be many more changes in the days and weeks to come so we wanted to give you the information that we receive on a timely basis. Tim and Tom MICK UPDATE NOTES FROM THE UK , FROM 1-9-09. RECEIVED 2.9.09. From Peter in Manchester . Things have changed quite dramatically today after the news that the hospital gave yesterday. To cut a long story short, the doctor who decided that nothing more could be done for Mick was a temporary doctor over the bank Holiday weekend. During last night Mick made a bit of a surge and his own doctor this morning decided that he should be taken off the 'care of the dying pathway' programme and treatment should be resumed. Indeed they have now decided to re-install his feeding tube and drips and reinstate the antibiotics that are fighting the infections. The doctor explained to me that the decision made to 'let nature take it's course' was the wrong decision. As you can imagine from last night being told he had perhaps 3-4 days max. to live, to this news today was quite a shock, albeit a nice shock. When I saw Mick today he looked tons better than he did yesterday. As I mentioned they have now started all his medication and nutrition again and when I saw him he was on the oxygen mask. He was asleep for most of my visit but certainly looked a lot better than yesterday. The doctor explained that he was still very seriously ill (he has MRSA and other infections also) but they had decided that it was still worth treating him. Quite right too! So it seems that a stand in doctor over the Bank Holiday weekend, took the decision that Mick was too ill to treat and that he should be basically left to die. All very bizarre and I am only glad that Mick's actual doctor has now reversed this decision. I will let you know of any further developments but as you can imagine things are changing daily. Yesterday we were all told to expect the worst and today there is still a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. From Paul in Halifax . Now the important news, this I am sure is no surprise as having spoken to Dave Newton and seen Peter and Ken this evening I know you are up to speed with Mick Quote
