Saranrom Park: A gay cruising delight

I went to Soi Twilight last night and as usual was bored to tears. The 2 places I did go there were packed, which is great. I hope that business picks up for them. I did not find any guys I was interested in but ran into a Thai friend who told me he had been to Saranrom Park right across from the grand Palace the night before and it was booming. I asked him to go with me as I enjoy a midnight stroll.

 

We got off before the place where all the food, clothing and goods vendors are. We walked around there and it was a bit cruisy. It was more low key but obvious to me some hotties were there that wanted me.

 

We made way to the park and was greeted by a slew of guys. It was close to midnight and we were in the park area for about 2 hours. We walked till the end of the palace and turned left and walked across a footbridge and a canal and walked up and down that area for a bit. There was one bar called OK. I don't know if gay but there were at least 50 guys outside drinking whiskey, etc. The bar was closed inside but the street around it was packed. Some very cute lads around it as well.

 

Each area of the streets along the way had boys waiting, walking and looking for customers. All were very friendly. Some were of dubious age. Some were of dubious violence potential. Some were college age guys. Some spoke good English. Some were obviously gay. Some were obviously gay for pay. Some were there chatting with friends. Some were very talkative and very aggressive at going after customers and some were not.

 

We walked around for about an hour or two and I chatted with several guys. I tipped a few guys and gave cigs to some of them. The place had something for just about everyone. Many of the guys don't speak good English but if you speak a little Thai, I am sure you will do fine.

 

I do not know how safe this area is as I went with a friend and I am a big guy and few guys seem to mess with me. But, if you are alone, I would suggest not going down some of those darker side streets (which by the way were also filled with guys).

 

However, if you are a people watcher as I am, this is a fun place. It is an easy walk to the vendors to get food, etc. There are places to sit and relax. There are nice streets to walk with lights along the way. As a mental note to myself, I counted over 100 guys that were obvious hookers. At that point, I stopped counting.

 

I had a very good evening even though I did not pick up anyone from the park, I did see one guy I wanted at the night market and when I returned from my walking was hoping to see him there on the same bench. Of course, he was not there. But, his vision is still embedded in my mind.

I think carrying cigarettes even if you don't smoke is a fantastic idea. That is what I would do. It's a great icebreaker. I don't smoke, never have, and see this as brilliant strategy to get in their pants. If I could imbibe every cute guy I see with a cigarette, I'd be walking around with cartons of them on my person at all times.

I often carry them. I smoke cigars a few times a year on special occasions but never liked cigs.

It is a good thing to have. In Brazil, I lay a box out on my table when I go and I always get cute guys coming over to bum one. Same is true at the discos there.

Perhaps z909 is interested to hear of additional accounts of other members' visits to the area. Or, maybe he was just simply being conversational. It certainly wouldn't be the first post on the forum for which there was no apparent reason to say whatever was said! I'd like to hear updates too, z909.

If anyone goes, fine with me. I wasn't trying to imply that the only updates need to come from GT or me. I'm merely saying that it's been the same for years and is likely to remain the same for quite some time. However, if anyone has his own individual experience, I'm just as interested as anyone else.

 

I'm also interested in seeing people post about their experiences, or at least what they've heard about, in other cruising areas as well, anywhere in Thailand and surrounding countries.

I went to diner in Silom area last night with some friends they said lets go to the Grand Palace, well I have been going many times now only once I did not find a nice guy, and a few times I have found the Ceam of the Crop, 'Army Guyz' in full uniform, well I had a wonderful Army boy last night and wow was he top notch.

 

Its all happening around the Grand Palace, I wont go on about it as i have writen a lot before, if you know where to go, the No. 2 bus Finishes where the Boys start, so give it a try see you there may be.

 

The funny thing is, all the times I have been to Saranrom Park area, I have never seen any other Farangs, apart from the guys I'm with. but many Asians, mainly picking up boys in Cars, the type the boys there prefer, if you cruise in a car or taxi. The taxi driver will speak for you if you cant speak thai its amazing but true.

That is precisely why the going rate is 500 baht at places like Saranrom. You almost never see older Thai men in bars taking boys off for 1000 baht up. There's no way. They go to places such as Saranrom Park and I wouldn't be surprised if many of them think 500 baht is quite expensive.

I'm merely saying that it's been the same for years and is likely to remain the same for quite some time. However, if anyone has his own individual experience, I'm just as interested as anyone else.

 

I have been going to the Saranrom cruising area for years. I enjoy it more than the stuffy over-pushy and over-priced go-go bars. As has been said, there are some real beauties and usually something for everyone. The only difference, through the years that I have noticed, is the number of guys available. There was a dry spell for a while because the cops were cracking down. Even though I saw a police pick up truck with six guys in the back, there were still available guys to be had. I think every once in a while the cops get rattled and push the guys back towards the canal and side streets, away from the palace. Over time, they usually return. If you have not been, make a point to go. It is a good time.

I had a great report about Saranrom Park a short time back. While I still enjoy it, I went this week closer to 11:30 PM and there were less than 50 percent of the guys there this week as last. Is there a good time to go? Best time? Does it pick up the later you go? Earlier?

It seems to me that it stands to reason if there were 50% more boys last week, then the time to go is the same time you went last week . . .
