TotallyOz Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Has anyone seen this in the stores in Thailand yet? I have read nice things about it and I am sure it will be a bit higher than the 30 USD in Thailand but it is needed for those of us on a Mac. Quote

Snow has a more responsive finder, quicker Time Machine backup, faster startup and shutdown, takes up less system space than previously (smaller footprint), and improved Quicktime technology in player app. All system apps are now 64-bit and aids in apps to be multi-core efficient. Also C-based language support and a bevy of assistive technologies for the sight-impaired. Microsoft Exchange support. http://www.apple.com Quote
mahjongguy Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Snow Leopard (10.6) has some nice features but note that it will not run Photoshop CS3. Quote

I guess this is a foolish question, but I'll ask it anyway. Many people I know who own a Mac are virtually fanatical about them and wouldn't have anything else. My question is why? I don't know much about the Mac, so I don't know what advantage they have over PCs. Quote
Guest rainwalker Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 My Snow Leopard install took 43 minutes. I'll play with it for a while and post an opinion which will be worth exactly what readers of this forum pay to hear it. Update: Apples have a major issue with video chatting to a MSN user. aMSN is a java based program which I use that allows it. Until now... It crashes just as it opens since the Snow Leopard install. Anyone have another suggestion for a Mac to MSN video chat application? Update 2: The install also erased the serial number to Drive Genius 2 and I had to manually re-enter it and reactivate the software. Quote

I use Adium but have had problems with video in it as well. If you don't have Adium, give it a test and see if this works with the new version of Snow. Adium is totally free and allows you to be signed on to MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ETC all at the same time. Quote

I just haven't a clue what most of the above means! Quote

I suggest you visit Istudio at Paragon in Bangkok. Avoid the one in Tukcom as they are not licensed for Apple. I have been a PC user since the start, but after buying my bf a Macbook, my next purchase will be a Mac. Quote
