Guest taylorsquare Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I heard that the infamous MONTYS BAR in the Jomtiem complex has now been sold and bought by a young Australian guy called Adam. Apparently they/he is wanting to turn it into a cabaret of some sort but is planning to stay in Pattaya only for 8 weeks to train his boyfriend June to run it and then going back to his hire car business in Australia and let his staff run it. Apparently Monty has a pearl necklace business now,a small stall at tukcom. It wasnt one of my favourite drinking places, good to hear gossip, but a lot of shouting going on. Quote
Guest tdperhs Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Two pieces of good news: Monty is out and June has gotten a break. I met June three years ago through a friend. He is a decent type and if anybody deserves a break in that business, he's one. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Monty has been trying to sell this guy for over a year, he had paid a deposit, then Monty gave him an ultimatum of last February, now this guy is dangling Monty on a string again, like a carrot to a rabbit, so who knows, what will happen. I know one thing Monty has all he has got into this place and has steered everything to making this business his own, so he will be more then over the moon, if he can get out, then you might see the fun amusing Monty he can be, when not under the stress of paying the bills in such a low season or loosing everything. Good luck any way. Quote
Guest Oogleman Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Monty's a survivor. I'm sure we will see much more of him around Pattaya. Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Well goodluck to the new owner, apparently from ,Australia and quite young too I hear. Certainly will be extremely hard work, and perserverance will be the key, especially at a young age where you will get bored or tire of the long hours for maybe far less money you would get working back in your own country. Well.......the old ROCK HARD BOYS site is up for lease. Apparently the thai landlady wants 12000 b per month plus key money. Its only a small shop size. I was disapointed when ROCK HARD BOYS closed on June 25th. The owner,Mitchell,a very nice New Yorker, came back last January after a 9 month absence in 2008 to go back to NYC and drive cabs . He left Rock Hard under management, but when he came back in June he decided to close it and not renew the lease. He told me drove the cab 7 nights a week, nearly 12 hours a day just to get the money to come back and try to start again. He is a very nice guy. Apparently he s just left again to go back to NYC. As the saying goes,Start with a big fortune and............ Quote
Gaybutton Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Well.......the old ROCK HARD BOYS site is up for lease. Apparently the thai landlady wants 12000 b per month plus key money. You know what I would consider doing if I was into the Jomtien Complex scene and moving to Thailand? I'd rent it and live there. 12000 baht per month isn't bad at all and I'd be right right in the heart of Jomtien Complex, easy walking distance to baht buses, the beach, and the night life, along with boys galore just a few steps outside my door. It wouldn't take very much to convert it to a livable apartment. Sounds good to me . . . Quote
Guest taylorsquare Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Yes.....um .....without saying too much,I hear someone is trying to haggle the price down and has a similar idea to yours, Well he wont need to move very far. ............ Quote
