Sorrento's Italian in Bangkok

Recommended Posts

Well, I love Italian food and had a couple of good experiences in Bangkok. Tonight was not one of them. I went to Sorrento's off of Soi Sathorn. The outside looked beautiful in the daytime with beautiful trees and flowers. The inside looks lovely as well with beautiful decor and table settings. The waiters were dressed in suits and looked lovely.

Those were the pluses.

Now for the minuses.

The food did not taste like it was Italian. It was more Thai than Italian. We had the Spaghetti and it tasted like something I would get at a mom and pop store anywhere in LOS. I did like the Lobster Bisque. Our group also had a sample of the Beef Stew. It is their special for August. I hope others are drawn to it as it was bland and was more a roast and carrot dish than a stew.

The appetizer Grilled Mushrooms were good. I could have easily done them myself and thrown them on a plate. The great thing about them was they were hot. They got the heat right.

I did not get water poured and could not get the waiter's attention to get desert after our meal so we got our check and paid and left. The prices are about 1k baht a head and I would much rather get some head on Soi Twilight than get fucked in the ass at a restaurant.

Perhaps if the food had been a bit better and the prices lower and the service a lot better, I would go back. But, as it was, the outside is most defiantly the best place to see this lovely place.

Sounds like a good place to miss. I am looking for a good place to eat on Sunday in BKK after Mamma Mia. Any suggestions?

I agree with Firecat on the Italian. But, I still have many places I want to try.

What kind of food are you looking for? If Mamma Mia, Italian or Greek?

If there is a good Greek restaurant that would be great.

I have asked around for this and few have any suggestions. I would offer to cook for you but you know my cooking sucks. My darling did ask me today to make him spaghetti putanesca. :) I told him I would this week. :)

Do you have a recipe for putanesca? If not I can send you mine.
