Members Ale4co Posted March 6 Members Posted March 6 Hello traveling in may to Bangkok just wondering if hotels like Marriott or Hilton Have strict policy’s on guests Quote
vinapu Posted March 6 Posted March 6 most hotels in Thailand have strict policy on guests i.e. guest are at best welcomed or at worst just overlooked. No personal experience with those two chains though. Riobard and Ale4co 1 1 Quote

Matthew285 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Hilton Millenium no problems at all. Have to meet in lobby because of lift key card but nothing said. Riobard 1 Quote
Travelingguy Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hilton Garden Inn Silom had nobody there to stop you from bringing in a guest. You just walked in and made your way to the elevators. Riobard, Ale4co and Boy69 1 2 Quote

In other words, choose a hotel which provides this level of security. And don't be embarrassed. nikba2515 and floridarob 2 Quote
jeremy Posted March 7 Posted March 7 The Ibis Styles Silom is no problem bringing guests in. Just have to meet them at the ground floor to take back up the elevator to your room. Never had any of my visitors pulled up, questioned or glanced at all to my knowledge. But be careful - one guy I had back to my room had taken something before he arrived and started tripping in my room. I managed to get rid of him after about an hour singing and making weird noises in the shower. That's an experience I would prefer not to have again... vinapu, Riobard and Boy69 3 Quote
reader Posted March 7 Posted March 7 There have been rumors for years that the Montien Hotel doesn't allow joiners but that's the only one in Bangkok i"m aware of. vinapu 1 Quote
Boy69 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 As a newbie it's better to book rooms at guest friendly hotels near the bars .walking distance to the action and bringing guests with you without problems is more important than staying at fancy chain hotels. Quote
Foolish Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I think it would be a great idea to refer to this map by one of the forum member. Its really helpful. He colour coded the guest friendly hotels around silom. https://shamelessmacktwo.travel.blog/2023/12/07/map-of-silom-surawong-area-december-2023/#more-3386 floridarob, Boy69, Riobard and 1 other 3 1 Quote
spoon Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Le meridien, W, The standard, Crowne plaza, Pullman G Bangkok and even Sofitel are some luxury hotels close enough to the scene and all have no issues with guests. Riobard 1 Quote

Bangkok is an international meat market and best to be cautious especially for the newbies. Londoner and BL8gPt 2 Quote
Keithambrose Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Personally, I think it makes no difference if you are a newbie, or an old hand. You still need to be sensible. Le Meredien, a 5 star hotel, does not interfere with guests at all, so your own risk. Boy69 and Riobard 2 Quote
jason1975 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Le Meridien is perfectly ok with joiners - both male and female. The Japanese guests often eat breakfast with their female overnight companions (from Soi Thaniya). I even saw one of @vinapu regular hunks with a guest during breakfast! Meridien is not my league when comes to accommodation unfortunately, LOL Riobard and Boy69 1 1 Quote
Shax Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I tend to stay at hotels not too close to (but not that far from) the bars (like Bandara Suites, At Ease Saladaeng, Silom Serene etc.) and so far, had no issues with bringing guests back in other than the knowing smiles of the doorman or receptionist 🤣🤣. vinapu and Riobard 2 Quote

I tend to prefer bigger rooms and at each of those hotels, I'd usually pick the one-bedroom unit, with a separate bedroom and living room. Not sure why but I love all that space 🤣 Riobard and vinapu 2 Quote

Not sure why but I love all that space 🤣 me too and I know why I like all that space - I grew up in very smalI apartment where every square inch was utilized. One danger of big hotel room is that we may tend to spread our stuff all over and when packing something may be forgotten - see my last trip report where I confess to leaving about 100 000 riels in 5000 riel notes on the night desk. And no, I was not in rush when packing , it just happened. reader, floridarob and Riobard 3 Quote
