Guest Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 There's nothing to test. It is not yet available. I know many who are using it at this moment and it is available to a select few. Like the gmail, it is by invitation only. I got a e-mail in the beginning and was in Beta for it. I signed up for this just recently as I have friends who have been using it an love it. They have USA cells and not sure if anyone who has been using this has traveled to Thailand. If you want to test it, sign up and I have heard wait time to get it is less than 2 weeks. As soon as I get to test it, I'll report. In the meantime, anyone else using it? http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.ph...ht=google+voice Quote
Guest Geezer Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 When attempting to sign up I saw a notice it was only available in the US. Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 When attempting to sign up I saw a notice it was only available in the US. If you were signed into your google e-mail account, simply change the settings in the admin of that to USA. That will bypass the requirement. Quote
Guest Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Just a clarification to those of you in LOS. 1. I was wrong in that your account had to show it was in the USA. That is true but your original clicking of the link ALSO must be from in the USA. I got 2 different approval letters on 2 different accounts. I was excited so I clicked the link in the first account. It was denied and said out of USA not accepted. I then signed into a proxy but the first time you click that link, it nullifies that link. So, I had a friend in the USA open my e-mail approval from GMail and click the link. We chatted on the phone and set it up. I tested it and it works great. I linked it to a number that rings on my Skype. I had some friends leave messages and they show up in text and I also get an e-mail. I was able to choose a number by area code, zip code or by name. I was able to get a great number with my name in it. I was thrilled. So far so good and I am enjoying it. If anyone gets an approval letter from gmail, just don't click that link outside of USA. Let a friend in USA click for you if you trust someone with your account information. Quote
Gaybutton Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Although the service is not available in Thailand, their web site does say that they are planning to extend it to other countries. Quote
Guest Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Although the service is not available in Thailand, their web site does say that they are planning to extend it to other countries. Don't hold your breath. It will take them a while to do. All the 212 numbers are already gone but they add more daily. It is totally free in USA and many are switching over to it and using it in place of other VOIP devices. If I wanted the service, I would sign up for a requested number. You can see from my initial response to today how long it took and times are getting less for the wait. Then, get someone to reserve this for you. What it means is that you are able to make free calls to USA. At least that is what I think. I made an hour call to family today and it was free for me. So, for me it worked. Quote
Guest Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Let me just say that I love this service. I am able to SMS with the boyfriend for free. I can send him 100 messages a day if I want (I am not that OCD) and whatever he sends back goes to my e-mail. The phone rings on my phone I have linked to and I can forward that whenever I want. For those that have not tried this, I suggest you give it a try. You will love it! Quote
