Guest fountainhall Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 This is an update on this concert originally mentioned some weeks ago on another thread. Lea Salonga, the star of the original Miss Saigon on Broadway and London's West End, gives a concert with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra on Saturday 12 September at 8:00pm at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre in Bangkok. The programme includes songs from Broadway shows, including Miss Saigon, A Chorus Line, Les Miserables, Guys and Dolls, Oliver and West Side Story, and a selection from the Disney movies in which Salonga sang on the soundtracks, including The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan and The Little Mermaid. I am told tickets will go on sale at ThaiTicketmajor outlets and on line at www.thaiticketmajor.com from Friday 24th July. Regular prices range from Bt 500 to Bt. 3,000, and there is an Early Bird Scheme with 20% discounts offered until about 3 weeks in advance. Quote

I hear on TV people talking about twitter, but not sure how that is different than a blog. How is a blog different than a post or a thread? Too confusing for my old brain! Quote
Guest buckeroo2 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Would you mind translating that post into English? I don't have any idea what you're talking about. From Wikipedia: Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. While the service costs nothing to use, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service provider fees. Quote
Guest BobbO Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I'm sorry - Twitter is very popular here in the US and the term Tweet or Twitter is pretty commonly used. It can be accessed from your computer or from a mobile device at www.twitter.com It is a free service and easy to register for. You select who you want to "follow" meaning you receive all the "Tweets" that they put out. A Tweet is a short (140 characters or less) message. When you create a message, everyone that follows you will receive it. There are celebrities, politicians and us commoners that use it. Barack Obama (or his staff more likely) as does the White House. News agencies put out bulletins and during the recent violence in Iran, Twitter was one of the few ways that Iranians had to communicate with the outside world as all usual sources of communication was cut off. I would say try Twitter, search for people you might want to follow and see if it is of interest. Feel free to follow me at @BobbyRieg I also follow the Bangkok Post and a Pattaya Realty company who Tweet very regularly. Bobby - California Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 This is the Thaiticketmajor site - http://www.thaiticketmajor.com/concert/lea_salonga_concert09_eng.php It's easy to register. Then book and pay online or by phone. From the rough seat plan, the venue looks like it is pretty wide. Seats nearer the centre will clearly be better. Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Was only once at a concert there when Diana Krall performed some years ago. I am sure front centre is fine. Front at the side may be not quite so good. Quote
