Guest rainwalker Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thailand is ....... sprawling, delicious, traditional, overdeveloped, exotic, golden, infuriating, astonishing, pungent, ultra-modern, creative, pacific, tropical, swirling, hectic, contemporary, surprising, stressful, frenetic, hip, steamy, cheap, refreshing, frantic, spicy, smiling, sublime, third world, historic, regal, air-conditioned, urban, atmospheric, corrupt, fast-paced, mad, graceful, rural, farcical, crowded, surprising, hungry, cacophonous, sexy, dynamic, and confusing. It is extraordinary and dirty and dangerous and hilarious and annoying and raw and smelly and hot and spiritual and real in its deep, deep strangeness. They say that travelers change their skies but not their souls; I'm not sure that this applies to visitors to "The Land of Smiles." It breaks down everything you think you know and replaces it all with scenes and images and odors and a skewed, inverted sense of discontinuity you will very likely never know again, unless you return. Guest TOQ Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 To put it simply: Thailand is the happiest time of my life john Quote
Guest Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thailand is scrumptious! Thailand is every changing while still remaining the same. Thailand is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Quote
Guest tdperhs Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thailand is... where you go to find Thai people. Thailand is... a place many Thai people would like to leave. Thailand is... an affordable place to retire well on a 50,000 Bt per month pension. Thailand is... Disneyland of the geriatric set. Thailand is... where you find the Thais that bind. Thailand is... where men go when they are past getting laid cheaply in their own country. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thailand is the final place I will live. Quote
Guest shockdevil Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thailand is...addictive...Addictive...ADDICTIVE!!! Quote

Guest Geezer Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Thailand is …… a mess. It’s amusing to read posts by some who seem to think the rest of us are unaware of that. We all have friends with the resources to live any place they wish, yet choose to reside in Thailand. Sure, we know Thailand is a mess -- and that Thai Airways is ready when we are. I don’t see a rush for Suvarnabhumi. The only way I’m leaving Thailand is up the chimney of a wat. Quote
Bob Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 The only way I’m leaving Thailand is up the chimney of a wat. I like that attitude, Geezer. And (stealing again a line from Sinatra) may you live to be 150 years old and the last voice you hear is mine! Yea, Thailand is a mess in so many ways but I suppose it's a comfortable type of mess. I'm used to it although I always wonder why I'm "surprised" when reading of another idiotic event that occurs. But, then again, I do that at home in the USA too. Quote
KhorTose Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Thailand is... where you find the Thais that bind. I did not know you were into S&M. Gee what kind of tip does that take? Thailand is......my home in 57 days 5 hrs and 32 minutes. Thailand is......A place where I can find a large group of very friendly gays from all over the world who share many of my interests. Thailand...is the place where I am going to learn a new culture and language and by doing so keep my mind young, and functional. Thailand is......Where my rescuer personality can find many challenges and opportunities to help others. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 And (stealing again a line from Sinatra) may you live to be 150 years old and the last voice you hear is mine! If you live that long, the last voice you hear may be the recently released Bernie Madoff's with an unbeatable offer to look after your cash. Quote
Bob Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 If you live that long, the last voice you hear may be the recently released Bernie Madoff's with an unbeatable offer to look after your cash. If ol' Bernie lives that long, I'll be happy to invest with him (especially with US dollars which, by that time, won't be worth diddley....). B) Quote
Guest luvthai Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Thailand is my refuge, my escape from reality, my peace. Its the only place I have found that I feel free to be me. Thailand hopefully will be where I spend the rest of my life. Quote
