TotallyOz Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 A friend of mine and I ate at a local well know gay restaurant and he got food poisoning which landed him in the hospital. Be careful when you eat out to make sure if you order American food that it is cooked the right way. I ordered the Chicken and it did not taste right to me and I only ate the fries. I have had sea food poisoning 5 times in LOS so I am always careful not to eat seafood at any place that I don't trust. My stomach is weaker than a Thai stomach and I have to be much more careful than most. Quote
Guest Oogleman Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 My stomachs same same. I try my best to be very careful but the bug usually gets me most trips. I think in over 50 visits i`ve had only 2 without tummy trouble. Quote

One real big one at first time - was sitting all night on toilet with real pain and needed 1 week to get normal. Was luck for me to have family with me to care about me. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I still say having norfloxacin and electrolyte powder on hand is a good idea. It works faster and better than any other treatment I have tried. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Ha ha in all trips since 26 years i only had 2 times tummy trouble My first trip here was 30 years ago. Since then I visited more than 100 times before moving to live here some years ago. Like other posters, my stomach is more on the delicate side, but I cannot recall ever having food poisoning here, even on my few trips to a couple of the eateries on Soi 4. The occasional mild upsets, yes, but these disappear after a few slugs of Pepto Bismol. Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 If you have ever had it shooting out both ends at the same time you will know what food poisoning is I know just what it is like - alas! Got it in Bali, India and a few other places. But, perhaps surprisingly, never here in Thailand - yet! Quote

I was going to post the exact same symptoms, as I had "real" food poisoning a couple years ago, but fortunately it was here in the U.S. I was feeling sick and went immediately to the doctor's office. I spent a lot of time there in the toilet and throwing up in his sink. Finally, he gave me a shot, 30 seconds later, everything stopped for about 6 hours. Then he put me in the hospital for 3 of those hours, and they ran tests and verified it was food poisoning. They sent me home and I braved some off and on bouts for a couple of days. I must find out what was in that shot. I know what caused it. My own cooking. I did not cook some meat well enough. Any meat I eat now is well done. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Might alcohol be a factor? I rarely drink alcohol and I get GI upsets periodically even though I live here. Quote
