Guest AllenRBriggs Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 First, I would like to thank everyone for responding so well to easrlier meessages about my condition and for you coninued intereest. Although my method of getting around has changed drastically, at least I am starting to get some mobility and ability to get out of my condo and hopefully start meeting some of my many friends who have indicated ongoing help and support as ai battled a medical condition I still do not fully understand. My first "outing" will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, when I will be drinking at Panorama from about 5:30 p.m. until probably 7 p.m. and then having dinner. I hear Amor has an early bird special and Amor is still one of my fav orites restaurants. I hope to see some of my special friends and supporters who have stood by me through my incredible medical battle. It will be wonderful to be "out and about" in Pattaya again and maybe able to start reporting again on things of interest. Look forward to seeing you the 14th, or in futute activities. ==Allen (G.P.)l Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Great to see your still on top or your problem,s Allen you have been a Diamond of a man to all including me, not that I'm suggesting you need any charity, but would it not be a wonderful system if we could have a trusting sole like Wally from thais4life, where we could put in say 1000 baht per month and if you can aim for hundred sponsors or potential users say 1,200,000 mill per year. A buddies type friendship club could be created for the most genuine vulnerable amounts us, who may need repatriation home or dont have a home, can not afford the high Insurance after 65 so can not pay their hospital bill. In need of a companion Buddy as per Allen does of regular Volunteers to go round at least 3 times a week and organize outs for a few in need. Who knows it could be any of us in the autumn of our days, not to far away now. we could also have some of the more well healed Gay residents of our community donate as they do for any charity, plus charoty nights, but this would be an Emergency fund with some volunteers on the phone 24 hours a day, ready to help out with any urgent problem if one came up, also 3 meals a day can be provided or cooked by the volenteeers and taken round, of course it would have to be thought out properly, to what came under the help sign, but I can see there is a growing need for this Friendship association, as the gay population is getting older and with all the Loss of money now on the down turn and bad Investments it would be greatly appreciated safety net. Did you know even if you have the Ruby Health Insurance for say 10,000,000 mil Baht they have a clause where you can only have say 50,000 per illness so not much good if your like Mick or Allen suddenly find your in hospital for more time then money allows. so many people with time on their hands in Pattaya Im sure some of them would love to help there fellow Gay community friends. If it was set up I would put in my 12,000 per 1000 monthly or per yearm to start with or what ever amount if worked out as fair. Quote
Guest Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Glad you are up and about GP. It is great to know this. Stay strong and healthy. HeyGay, I think you have a good idea. I am just not sure many would trust anyone in Sin City with that amount of money. Personally, I have always wanted a Golden Girls type of home situation. I keep looking and looking for this but there seem to be too many Blanche's wanting to live with me. Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Considering how many programs are in place to benefit disadvantaged Thai boys, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. However, it would definitely be difficult to organize and then who decides who is to benefit and who is not? We may be already taking care of our own through personal friendships. As HeyGay said, there is nothing to indicate Allen is looking for charity. I think he just wants to see his old friends and make some new ones. Quote
Guest Hedda Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 However, it would definitely be difficult to organize and then who decides who is to benefit and who is not? Maybe Bernie Madoff could run it. I hear he's got lots of free time on his hands now. Quote

PattayaMale Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 There is a small group that has started to brainstorm ideas about some type of assisted living project. Our vision right now is to just brainstorm ideas knowing that for many of us, continuing to live in Thailand may necessitate at sometime needing some assistance. I appreciate HeyGay bringing ideas about this to the fourm. Quote

So stop by and see Allen and then mosy on down 2nd Rd and see some young swabbies performing at The Avenue. Quote

Let me remind you of 2 projects that were started not long ago: Near Phoenix Golf: http://www.morning-cloud-village.com Near Ban Saray: The Nordic Group is still developing their serviced living for older and disabled people (not specifically gay). I didn't hear of both projects for quite a while. Quote
