Guest Astrrro Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 COLUMBIA, S.C. — Mark Sanford, the governor of South Carolina, apologized in a rambling news conference on Wednesday for having an extra-marital affair with a woman in Argentina, ending a mystery over his week-long disappearance that had infuriated lawmakers and seemed to put his rising political career in jeopardy. Governor Sanford admitted he had been in Buenos Aires, Argentina, since Thursday, not hiking on the Appalachian Trail as he told his staff. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 This is the second sex-scandal in about a week involving a married Republican big-wig. The party of family values? Ha! Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 This is the second sex-scandal in about a week involving a married Republican big-wig. The party of family values? Ha! Not only having an affair, but lying about it. Isn't that somewhat like what Martha went to prison for and Clinton was impeached for. I know the lie wasn't under oath, but still a lie. Quote
Guest Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 The news conference was fantastic. Tears. Sadness. I loved one journalist's questions after he admitted the affair. He was asked, "were you alone?' He said, "obviously not." LOL If he was alone and having sex would that be an affair? Quote
Guest shebavon Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 THough sex scandals are not just of the left or the right, it is especiallly gratifying to see another of those who preach "sanctity of marriage" and "family values" go down. The things this man said about Larry Craig (resign!) while he was involved in his own affair, and about Bill Clinton, make this even more gratifying. They keep this up, they will have no one to run in 2012. Quote
