Hi,

Well if I have pressed all the right buttons, at the right time, you should have attached two info posters. The first is a reminder/invite for my birthday party on 22nd., and the second is details of our next concert trip on the 27th. Naturally I would love to see you on one of the dates, if not both!

I have a few tickets for Mama Mia, the Musical, in Bangkok on Sunday 23rd. AUGUST. They are 2,500 discounted down to only 2147. It's first come, first served. We will be doing the trip by minibus and the cost of a seat will be around 400. As it is the last night of the run,it promises to be an extra good performance with a great party atmosphere. Book now!!

Finally. It's party night in Sunee Plaza tonight. The winner or the recent "Face of Sunee" will be presented around the Balkan Express area tonight at 10pm. Afterwards all member bars, identified buy balloons, will be having a party with plenty of varied promotions, and a few surprises. Hope to see you there.

All the best,

Mike & the Team

I think it is admirable that you are organising parties for the Thailand Philharmonic concerts. But I am surprised that you have not considered the Bangkok Symphony's 'Great Artists' series at the Thailand Cultural Centre. These are somewhat infrequent, but there was an extraordinary concert with Sarah Chang last Tuesday - Mozart, Brahms violin concerto and Beethoven's 7th Symphony. The full house cheered and cheered at the end. Tickets are pricier than the TPO, but then the soloists are all top international artists and have included Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Sir James Galway. And there is usually a 20% Early Bird saving.

If it's because you do not obtain information about the concerts, then I'll happily post it when it becomes available.

And on Mamma Mia, word has it that bookings are so good that the run may be extended by another few performances.

Maple kindly sent an email asking me to post info about the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra's 'Great Artists' concert series. I found it in my junk-mail box, and so I expect there may have been a few other mails over the years which I have completely missed. To any who wrote to me and did not get a reply, sincere apologies.

The next concert in the Series is scheduled for Saturday 12 September and will feature the BSO with Lea Salonga, the star of the original Miss Saigon on Broadway and London's West End. She has since appeared in a number of other Broadway shows, and as the voice in several Disney movies. The programme includes songs from Miss Saigon, A Chorus Line, Les Miserables, West Side Story, Oliver, Guys and Dolls, and a selection from Disney movies including The Lion King, Aladdin and The little Mermaid.

Lea Salonga seems to have a big following here and so this concert is at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre starting at 8:00 pm. Tickets are on sale at ThaiTicketmaster at least 2 months in advance and there is an Early Bird Scheme with 20% discounts offered until about a month in advance.

I understand the Thailand Cultural Centre, the main venue for this particular Series, will be closed for about 8 months' much-needed renovations from October. So there will be no more 'Great Artists' concerts until May/June next year.

I will post a reminder nearer the time with further details on things like ticket pricing.

I saw her many times over the years and was mesmerized each time. My first time was in London when her career first started and then several times in NYC. What a fantastic voice she has!

I met her many years ago in Chicago when she was featured singer with the London Philharmonic. I had a friend who played with them and I went with a Filipino friend. We went back stage to see my English friend and my Filipino friend spotted lea and went to talk to her and brought her over to meet me. She was very sweet. We recently saw her in BKK in Cinderella.
